In total agreement!!! Added Dont be so formal Relax and let your show reflect your personality. Dont be afraid to try new things. A show can get boring.. |

The one I always have to remind myself is: You can't make everyone happy ! When I first started I would get frustrated when I couldn't please everyone. It is impossible. I've learned to do the best possible to make people happy and let the complainers roll off my shoulders as much as I can. |

Babs , that's so true. It's nearly impossible to please everyone. It's always the person who just didn't make the cutoff for the last song ......sorry but next time Karaoke Singers (and kj's ) are junkies ..you just can't get enough of the drug we call KARAOKE . #1 rule of SHOW BIZ ....ALWAYS LEAVING THEM WANTING FOR MORE |

V true about not pleasing everyone. And the ones who are visibly displeased and cause the most fuss, are usually the ones not worth even caring about! |

Here's something I've found out about the whiney singer and or disgruntled singer. As a KJ if you treat them with respect , they ALWAYS come back , because there not only whiney and disgruntled at YOUR SHOW they're the same way at EVERY SHOW. So as long as they are not abusive or argumentattive -just apologize that they didn't get to sing their last song or explain that 30 other people in the bar requested a DANCE tune and they will get their turn to sing when its time. Thank them for understanding and when they walk away ...THINK WHAT EVER YOU WANT |

Thank them for understanding and when they walk away ...THINK WHAT EVER YOU WANT I agree kill them with kindness unless they are one of these: Yelling from the audience to the stage at me. I detest this. How can I help someone that yells at me from 10 ft or more away. Once I ignore it. The second time I address it over the microphone. I try to say something comical that embarrasses them into stopping. The cowardly complainer that tells everyone else their gripes, but not me. If you want to get on my bad side quick, this is the way to do it. When I have other people coming up to me asking me to put so & so in because they are driving them nuts I put my foot down. They know better than to ask me to push them up in rotation, so they get other people to do it for them. Kids |

'nother rule we live by Everyone and I mean EVERYONE gets applause/encouragement before and after they sing. I have stopped shows before to make that point to the audience (in the form of a joke of course so as not to offend anyone). I have them trained now and no matter if the person getting ready to sing sounded like two cats fighting in a dishwasher the song before, they get just short of a standing ovation everytime! New customers pick up on that quickly and learn from the regular's example. Thing is, my folks aren't clapping for the performance, but for the effort. That being said, the folks who really can sing get even louder and more raucus clapping, yelling, whistling, etc. One word to infuse any show ENERGY! |

How about an example or two? I'm new to this kind of training. Thanks! |
