Post subject:  recording

I sometimes record at shows using cfx12mkII to a tascam dpo1 using the sub switches on the mixer I route the mics to 1and3 and the music to 2and4 then mixdown later at home...my question is am I doing this right ? it does seem to effect the sound of my show, is there a better way of doing this? thanks

Since the Tascam can only record two tracks at a time I am assuming you are grouping mics together on 1 track & music on the other - mono.
Other than putting the mics on 1&2 & the music on 3&4, you are doing fine. The stereo channels can't be lumped to 1 sub channel without losing 1 side or the other. Better way to connect would be put the music source into 2 individual channels, pan them both hard left & route them to sub 3. Do the same for the mics & route them to sub 1 - make sure both the left & right buttons are engaged so you get output on both main channels. Now run the sub 1 & 3 output to the input on the recorder - mix how you would normally mix for your mains & adjust the recording volume from the recorder itself. It shouldn't be affecting the sound, if it is you are adjusting for the recording & not the main sound.
