My girlfriend and neighbors love to sing Karaoke during block get togethers. I suck but will join in for the fun and to be a good sport. However I like the tech side of so many things and figured I would setup a sweet home system for everyone to sing on when over our house. I will give you what I am starting with and what I plan to upgrade to as time and money permits and have a couple questions at the end.
Currently:
*Laptop running JustKaraoke and Power CD+G ripper software.
*Receiver without 1/4" jack
*Small walmart karaoke machine just to allow me to plug the $10 mics into the rca jacks on the receiver.
*47" LCD Monitor (Over Kill but it is what I have in the entertainment room)
*Decent surround sound home speakers to get by for now.
OK what I have learned was 1. eventually I will need a mixer then will not use the receiver 2. These speaker will not sound great and will eventually go bad do to the vocals, so I will someday get the correct speakers. 2. Not a must but eventually want to get a good set of wireless mics.
Now for the questions.
1. Am I on the right track?
2. What mixer and speaker combo are recommended for the home user that will not break the bank.
3. Is there any Mics or Adapter that will allow me to plug them into the RCA inputs on my receiver since mine currently does not have the 1/4" plug so I do not have to run the cheap karaoke machine in line just to use the mics.
Thanks for any help and advice.
Rob
Instead of the home karaoke player, why not check this out.

You can hook it up between your receiver and laptop.
