You know, it's sad when I can hit my mirror ball with a flashlight and it lights it better than the typical par spots we buy.

I've tried several different par spots and I'm not happy at all with the results.

Hopefully someone here can suggest a particular light that is truely bright and narrow enuff to do the job right.

I use 2 small par 38 pin spots with 150 watt bulbs. More than enough. Are you using regular par floods or pin spots?

Yup, as Lonman said - you don't want a flood, you want a number of spots.

In a rec room mirrors on the wall strategicately placed for reverbs and lighting effects is awesome...

Ball is placed 2 ft from side wall, so only using one Chauvet YA-15 par 36 6 volt 30 watt placed 5 ft away......it sucks.......maglite flashlight illuminates whole room with very brite reflections, but par light don't do nuthin.

Thanks Lonman, I'll try the 150 watt and attempt to find it in a VNSP(very narrow spot) version.

I made a big mistake, they are not 150 watts, that what I run on the stage floods. It was late when I posted.
They are indeed 50 watt halogen bulbs. Here is the exact model.

OK Lon I was wondering Although I have used 100 watt heat lamps for spots outside at night.

Well i'm actually thinking about cutting the stage floods down to 50-75 watt floods. It gets pretty hot up there & this would help a little, & not lose much.

I point 4 - 150 watt discharge color changers at mine. You can make some really cool dmx programs to color change the mirror ball.

Other option is to prgram scenes with your DMX scanners to point at your mirror ball.

I reccomend nothing less than 15watts if you really want to light up a mirrorball. IT best if you light it from 4 sides also.

Keith, for a smaller sized room you can get two VERY affordable 30-50 watt pinspots for around 20-30 bucks.. Why not center the ball ? You might also consider something like one of these.. They might be more to your liking..

One of the LED star or moon beams. I'm looking at these myself for just relaxation.... Placement is much easier

On the page I posted, check out some of the moonflower and starbeam lights. Thing I like about those is that you have more leeway as to where you attach the lighting fixture and you might get better lighting than a lower watt pinspot for a smaller area. You don't want to use diffused flood or even standard spot lighting for a mirror ball though... Pin spot is a must, but for what you want you might wish to get a very inexpensive pinspot, and add a starbeam for better FX. When I closed down a retail store I was given commercial track lighting and I have loads of cans and I use halogen bulbs, but you've reminded me that I really want to see if I can get some special FX lighting that will fit the track...
