My host was getting a big head It got to the point where it was more about him. At our wedding he showed up in his stocking cap and jeans. I was absolutely embarassed. Across the street in the Everyday there is a little gal with personality plus. She is a people person from Kentucky with the sweetest accent ever. She has never been to karaoke and does not sing. But she shows enthusiasm and I need to get PR back into my shows. I have always operated by the seat of my pants and gut instinct. I think I have a winner. |

 OMG I just went across the street and she was backing out from the store.with kids in car. She stopped batted her eyes at me and said gimme 5 dollars. By the time it was done she got another dollar I'm I am paying her 75 nightly and it will come out of her pay.
This little gal is going to be the best hosts ever. No ego. Just personality. |

| I have hired bar tenders etc I know what I am doing. I have been hustled by the best all over the world. I will have guage many qualities and see how she handles herself in bar situations.
As far as skills I have had 12 year olds sit down and in 15 minutes be running a show. This was during 10 hour all-nighters. I want a people person and somebody I can train right to start with. |

ollie, I would do the same, for me it is important that I be able to train this person to set up and tear down. when she could run the whole show and do the set up tear downs then she would be worth $75 a night to me. to me somebody who just helps run and is in training is worth about 20 to 25% of the shows pay. when they can do it all its worth 50% |

You know what you are doing, but if I had any suggestion to make it would be this. Write down the names of your regular singers and their favorite songs. Have her go over them at home and ask her to mentally place a face to those names so she can greet them by name when they come in. It's what I do when I start a new room. Unless she's already a regular there herself she has a steep learning curve ahead of her. Good luck. |
