Man O man would I like to get my hands on some Essential Karaoke discs. I have heard several songs by them and they are first rate musically. I believe they are out of business since there is no essentialkaraoke.com anymore. I've sang the EK Just The Way You Are version several times and it's very good. I'm beginning to develop a real dislike for DK Karaoke tracks. The more I hear them the lees I like them. They seem very primitive and I detest the melody in a midi sound in the background. I bought and downloaded I Wish It Would Rain by the Temptations after listening to a short sample and it's not a very good Karaoke track IMO. I need to find another, better version. Fortunately it only cost 79 cents. |

DK hasn't made anything in like eight or ten years. EK IS very good. Hopefully they will still continue to put things out. I know STTW uses many of their backings for their "bought in" tracks. |

From what i know EK karaoke stands for Easy Karaoke based in England. Are you sure that isn't what you mean? I have a few of their songs on a custom disc that i purchased from www. karaoke.com when they used to sell compilation discs from different companies under the Proburn motto. I no longer see them sold there, but i still see them advertised at www.doowop .com if you are in the U.S.A. Their renditions musically are pretty good but their graphics are a little hard on the eyes (white letters on a lite blue background). One of the songs that i purchased from them was a rare soulful gem called Hurt by Timi Yuro that isn't made by anyone else that i know of. |

No, it's Essential Karaoke for sure. They may have changed their name, but the songs I've seen and sung were definitely by Essential Karaoke. Just The Way You Are has a date of 2000. I saw several on YouTube and they were all well done and very good musically. |

Well that clears things up for me. I was thinking, "Are we talking about the SAME EK?" To me also, EK stands for Easy Karaoke and I find them very inferior in quality. I only use them if I I have no other manufacturers in my list to choose from. In other words, last choice. I'll have to look into Essential Karaoke if you say they are good. |

But.... it's funny how you find things on the internet when you are looking for other things! If you go to www.easykaraoke.com you can sample their versions with graphics and form your own opinions. Nice website they have |

Fortunately it only cost 79 cents. I'm not going to disagree with you Stogie because I haven't bought DK for material that's 50 years old. But I have been using that label mostly for 80s' synthpop and had good results. As an example, last night before the show started a regular and I went through all the versions I have of "When Doves Cry" and we both concluded that the DK version was the best... both in accuracy and in the way it handles the last chorus. I did the same with a singer and some Whitney material awhile back and we same up with the same conclusions. I've been picking these up the same place you have. For 79c it's been a great way to plug some holes. But I also have a few DK Encore discs I bought before the computer. |

Thats the beauty of karaoke EVERY company has their diamonds in the ruff and EVERY company has their stinkers, and with those DK versions i find myself singing extra loud just so i don't have to hear that ridiculous pan flute, it reminds me of when i was a small child, watching television music shows with the bouncing ball chasing the lyrics of songs! |

Thank you Tommie Tunes for the heads up on that website. Looks like Essential Karaoke made at least 22 CDs of which 10-22 are available from KTSKaraoke.com. I looked at them and ironically there aren't that many titles on the 13 discs that I'm really interested in, go figure . . . So far I've downloaded over 20 songs from Buykaraokedownloads.com and for the most part I'm very satisfied. There are a couple of clikners, but for the price you can't complain. I REALLY like just buying songs that I want instead of getting discs of 15 songs with one or two that I want. |

Thanks Tommie Tunes! I'm planning on joining the SoundChoice club thingie and I get a compilation disc with the $25 membership so I Wish It Would Rain will be for sure one of the songs I get. Update on DK, I listened to some more of my downloads and a couple were DK and they sounded good. No annoying pan flute or midi sound in the background so I guess they didn't do that on every recording. As was mentioned, every manufacturer has some not so good tracks that they produced, even SoundChoice. |

You not only get the custom but a free disc in their active catalog as well!

That is their equivalent of the SoundChoice Foundation and Bricks. I bought the 60s and the 70s essentials packs (CBEP4XX on the disk code) as some of my first purchases after I started out with SuperCore. |

I don't have any so don't know, just knew they had something like the Essential or something. |

Yea, there's the Charbusters Essential packs, like volumes 1-7. Not bad stuff, but for the more discerning singers, the SC Foundations are preferred by my singers. |

Easy Karaoke is also the originator of custom online discs, and has also sold their technology to retail karaoke stores. The only problem is that their custom discs are encoded, so a standard CDG duplicator can't make a backup. Which means it's worthless to me, as I won't put a disc in my book unless I have a backup. |
