So what are everyone's favorite country-western songs to sing or hear someone sing? Last night I heard someone sing Rodney Crowell's I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried, which is a great song. I haven't heard Patty Loveless' Blame It on Your Heart for awhile, but that is also one of my favorites. Others?

We are mostly country here, so there are a million. My favorite song as a song is King George's Amarillo By Morning. I get the most people rocking in a bar with Diggin' Up Bones from Randy Travis. And my favorite female songs include If Your Heart Ain't Busy Tonight (Tanya Tucker) and Seven Year Ache (Roseanne Cash).

Good songs! I also like Randy Travis' Honky Tonk Moon and Is It Still Over. Does anyone ever sing KT Oslin's Hey Bobby? I think it's roughly the same time frame as Seven Year Ache. I think my favorite Tanya Tucker song is Strong Enough to Bend.

I've had Chris Ledoux's Cadillac Ranch going through my head the last few days. I my have to give it a try.

I'm not really a Country fan, but I do have some songs I like and sing.

I like ballads when it comes to country. I can think of a few right off the bat.

If someone can pull it off, most Vince Gill songs would get me interested, especially "Whenever you come around". "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. Allison Krauss "When you say nothing at all". Martina McBride "My baby loves me just the way I am".

Of course the good old standby "Boot Scooting Boogie" by Brooks and Dunn.

That's all I can think of right now.

Current fave country song in my karaoke room is "Georgia Rain" - Trisha Yearwood. It's sung by one of the better female singers.

I don't know all that much about modern country though. What I do know I've picked up from my more knowledgeable singers. So far I've been getting by with their suggestions and yearly compilations form CB and BHK. With the room rather young and a great country karaoke bar close by I don't get a lot of traditional country-western folks.

I gotta tell you, I met Trisha and she is one of the coolest person you can meet. Very funny, intelligent and just fun to be around.

I'm surprised at how many people have mentioned Rodney Crowell (he was married to Roseanne Cash at one time). Since I'm partial to Western Swing, I really enjoy singing his "I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried". I also like his version of "Above And Beyond" (previously done by Buck Owens).

The first C&W song I ever sung at Karaoke was "Amarillo By Morning". I whistle during some of the fiddle parts, which people really enjoy!

Keith Whitley had a several great songs (he was married to Lorrie Morgan). His untimely death (due to drugs) during the early nineties, was a shocker. Alison Krauss covered two of his songs and has now become associated with them. Alison (and Union Station) is/was well-known on the Bluegrass Circuit, which is where I first met her. It was "shocking to me" to hear her covers of Whitely's songs gain her such success since she made virtually no adaptions to them. Meanwhile, she's also a respected studio musician (fiddle player)

For those who enjoy singing really fast material, you might like Mickey Giley's "Don't The Girls All Get Prettier At Closing Time"

For those who prefer slower material, there are some "oldies" by Don Williams and Merle Haggared availabe for karaoke that are gems (IMHO). Neither singer is really known for up-beat songs! BTW, Don Williams had the first release of "Amanda". And in a recent edition of AARP magazine, Haggard's "Mama Tried" was rated as one of the best all-time 100 songs. While I'm a big, big fan of his, I wouldn't pick that as his best songs, or as one of the best 100.

Marty Stuart and Eddy Raven are more obscure artists that have some great material available for Karaoke. As to Stuart, I like "Tempted", "Burn Me Down" and the "Whiskey Isn't Working Anymore". Raven had "Joe Sure Knows How to Live", "I Got Mexico", "Shine Shine Shine" and "I'm Gonna Get You"

And I'm surprised to note how few of Alabama's songs are done at Karaoke shows. They had hit, after hit and did so for many many years

It's also good to see that both Loveless and Oslin have not been forgotten. Kathy Matea, Emmylou Harris and the Judds, have not as yet been mentioned. All four had great material in the late 80's/early 90's. I'm not sure, except as to the Judds, how much of any of their material is available for Karaoke?

With regards to Keith Whitley, I've sung a couple of his songs--I'm No Stranger to the Rain and It Ain't Nothin'. I'd love to hear a couple sing the duet 'Til a Tear Becomes a Rose...a very nice song.

I like the Judds as well. Rockin' with the Rhythm of the Rain and Girls Night Out are two of my favorites, but I don't hear them sung too much. I also like Had a Dream (Dream for the Heart) but have never heard it sung though I believe its available on Sound Choice. Bye Bye Baby Blues and Drops of Water aren't available for karaoke. I wish they were.

I've sung Don Williams' Some Broken Hearts Never Mend. How about Dan Seals? I like his song Big Wheels in the Moonlight.

Has anyone heard Holly Dunn's What Your Love Does to Me sung in karaoke?

How about East Bound and Down by the late Jerry Reed?

I'm not much for country music, but I adore Trisha Yearwood. She seems like the kind of chick it would be a blast to go out for a few beers with. I've done "Down on My Knees" quite a few times at karaoke.

Speaking of Holly Dunn, I've have always liked her and once sang "Daddy's Hands". Ironically, at my daughters wedding reception last night the DJ, out of the blue, cued up that song when he invited my daughter and I to have our dance.

I've done "Eastbound and Down" a couple of times.

Thanks for pointing out that "Big Wheels In The Moonlight" by Dan Seals is available for karaoke. I hadn't realized that and I really like that song. I've always enjoyed "Bop" by Dan Seals - one of my favorite C&W songs. I've sang that a couple of times.

As to Don Williams, I have a female at one of my shows who sings several of his songs. I've sung: "Amanda", "Say It Again", "You're My Best Friend", "I'm Just A Country Boy", "Til The Rivers All Run Dry", "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend", "I Believe In You", "Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good", "It Must Be Love", "Tulsa Time", and probably a few others I've forgotten singing!

Im not really into country music, but have a few favourite country songs such as RebaMcEntire -Why Havent I Heard From You and the Leann Rimes version of Unchained Melody. These are what I sing when I find myself in a place where everyone is into country music.
Dwight Yokum-Fast As You is kinda fun, too. I have sung Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks too, but that one was way overdoe when I lived in the states, so I only did it a few times.

When it comes to Conway Twitty there are many songs to sing. But.... IMHO... "It's Only Make Believe" is his best and most popular tune.
