Need some advice on what eq settings I should use in my setup. I do home parties with a recently purchased Stagepas 300 and have been playing around with the eq settings and still don't think I have found the perfect blend. The stagepas 300 has only 2 eq settings high (10kHz) and low (100 Hz) that go from -15 to +15. No mid eq. Have read many posts regarding eq settings but all have been with 3 or more bands. What recommendations can anyone give for settings for male/female to provide best balance of vocal punch/limiting and no feedback? Thanks. |

With only a high & low eq. If you want more midrange, you cut highs & lows boost the channel fader up a bit. You want less midrange, you add highs & lows & back the channel fader down a bit. Since each & every singer is going to be different, even between male/female, I wouldn't be able to really tell you any settings without hearing the actual voice i'm mixing. |

I realize it will change from singer to singer. Just looking for a good starting point. |

Well if I only had 2 bands to work with I would start every singer pretty much straight up on both hi & lo & work from there. Males tend to need less bass & more mids/highs - but not always. Females usually the opposite. Again 2 bands there is really no 'starting' point. You will be adjusting every singer to compensate for the lack of midrange control so start in the middle. |

Lon's advice is solid. The only thing I would add is that you might want do a bit more research. The fact is, midrange is the priority for karaoke. A unit without the ability to adjust it was never built for karaoke use.... |
