Can anyone give me advice on LED par cans. In theory I like the sound of them. The any colour option means I could cut down on the amount of cans used. From what I have read, a Par 64 LED is nowhere near as bright as a Par 64 Tungsten Halogen and behaves more like a flood than a beam. Then lots of Ad's state the others dont work very well but our's do... We use super powered 10mm LED's. Help... Please. |

Well, I like LED lighting for two reasons, lower power consumption and not having to replace the light bulbs once in while. LED gives you 100% duty cycle. Some of the tungsten lighting, you can't have it running all the time. Typically you have 50% duty cycle, which means you need to have it off as much you have it on. Lower power also means that you can plug in more lighting in to a single outlet. And the bulbs don't burn out as often, lasts for years. So many reasons why you would want to buy them. However, as you stated, some LED lighting are not bright. You may need more lighting to get the same kind lighting you need from tungsten types. However, I think the advantage outweighs the faults by a mile. |

ive only used them once. it seemed to me that it took 2 or 3 to replace one in brightness however having all the color choices in each fixture you can make a much nicer light show with 4 cans as normaly each can would have 1 color. |

I disagree. The better fixtures have just as high output as conventional lights. I use Chauvet Color Pallete II's as my main washes they are $600 each and have a very nice output. I also have 4 of the orginal Color Palette's and they do a very nice job for $220 each. |

i picked up one colorpallet for 170 and i got a revo 3 which is better than a vue 3, add a vue 6 and vue 2 and then add in all my old lighting til i can change it out to led eventually. also i reccommend a haze vs a fogger to avoid the people complaints and still get the added bonus of fog effects. but led is the way to go just for the fact of being able to have them on the whole show if u choose to. cheers have a great day |

Lightbulbs are rated in candelas. The wattage, efficiency and candela ratings in the specs will tell you when compared. Since a halogen burns much much hotter it will give of more light in candelas than an led. you'd have to have quite a number of leds to equal the luminosity of a halogen which also has a broader spectra (more like daylight). it would depend on your application and whether the effect is to your satisfaction. |
