This is a link primarily for you fellow 'old timers'. I believe that you'll appreciate this more so than the youngsters around here if for no other reason than for the memories that it evokes.

Right at the very end of the video you will hear the song ' Thunder Road ' sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme! This isn't uncommon except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum himself!

"Cept we didnt have any drag strips. We went out on deserted highways after midnight.

Per capita in the late 50's Fort Collins Colorado had more rods on the streets than California. I had a 41 Ford flathead totally souped 2 stromburg carbs. Would do 70 mph in second gear. I waxed many 57 chevvies. cities had their cruise streets where the rods would go up and down. Everybody knew everybody and there were no drugs just beer.

It was a simple time and we had a whole world to explore after high school. We did not have 10% of the problems we have now. We could go back to those times if we could strip away all the government control that has created all this crap. Oh well...

Love this stuff, cool video NS.
When I was in elementary school, I read about 4 different types of hot rod magazines cover to cover, over and over every month when they came out. I was obsessed with the drag scene I guess of the 60s, and knew every detail and nuance I think, which blew many a grownups mind. My favorite was probably the 41 Willys (stone, woods, and cook). If I ever hit the lotto, I'm gonna do a willys kit car, or a 60 chevy tubbed (with a big block of course)
Dam, I guess I am getting to be an old timer.........
