I'm so glad to hear audience response has been taken out of the equation. Two thumbs up for that.
Contests - I'm still hearing about last yrs costume contest for Halloween. I told the owner I didn't want anything to do with the judging. I was thrilled not to be a part of it. It was done by applause. People complained a store bought costume shouldn't have won. Some complained it should have been a regular who won. Some complained their costume was better. The person who won complained it was a gift certificate to the bar for $100. I just smile and say they should say something to the owner because I had nothing to do with it.

I am COMPLETELY with the ones that said store bought costumes shouldn't win. Anyone can buy a costume & put it on. Give credit to those who put some creativity & effort into making a costume!
See Lon that is what I'm talking about. The guy that won last yr had a Edward Scissor Hands Costume. His makeup was incredible, but yes the costume was bought.
When you all have costume contests for Halloween how is the judging done?
We do it by applause and like I said I stay out of it and let the owner do the whole thing, so I don't get blaimed when people are unhappy. But how do you do it without making someone mad?
