I am in th market for a new mixer and am wondering if one of these two will do.
The only real difference between the two is that the Eurorack has built in effects and the Samson doesn't. But I can always get an outside effects processor.
Opinons?
Personally for the fx alone I am leaning toward the Behringer but am open if you think the Samson is a better unit.

I am not aware of a 120FX model -- I assume you mean 1202FX. I own one, and it works well. Personally, I would go for the Yamaha MG82CX over either of those. It has better effects than the Behringer, and compression on two channels as well.

Looks good but it fails to meet my needs because I need it to fit in my rack case.
My laptop sits ontop of my rack case and I barely have space on my table for my mikes when they aren't in use.

Good luck. There are about zero 1-3 space rack mount mixers I would want to use....

If you need a rack mount mixer like that, i'd pick neither. Check out
https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/ ... ct=RX1200R

If you HAD to make a choice between the two mentioned in the OP, i'd actually opt for the Samson.

Unfortunately I am working on a budget but I have decided to go with the samson. Just gotta find the right FX unit.

You did notice, I hope, that the Samson unit only has two mic inputs out of 12 channels? I would think the Behringer unit (I figured out you meant the RX1202FX) is a lot more useful in a karaoke application....

Mickey makes sense, I didn't catch the 2 XLR mic inputs, the Samson is actually more geared for keyboard grouping & not so much for vocals. The Behringer is going to be more suited for that. Plus the Samson has been discontinued for a while.

There is two xlr for the mikes. or I can go to one of the unbalanced left channels which are mono if you only use that input. Either way I have the cables to make this work with my present mike set up and If I wanted to spend the money later, I can get xlr to xlr cables to go between the mikes and the mixer. I had heard somewhere that xlr connections are better because they are balanced. If I don't win the Samson auction then I'll look at getting the behringer. I have more history with the samson products than with the behringer stuff. The only behringer stuff I use with my pro setup is a u-control usb soundcard which is working beautifully for me. On the Samson side, I have worked with a Saqmson powered mixer while working on a friend's unit and I have four Samson wireless mikes that I have access. One is with my main sound system with another sitting as backup for the main setup. The other two are being used with my second portable system.

I just don't see where the Samson has advantages over the Behringer. It is not like it is a legendary name that is going to be so much better noise-wise, and the pre-amps are likely to be a bit of an afterthought. The Behringer, despite it's less than stellar reputation, is going to serve a lot better IMHO. Plus it eliminates the $100 minimum you will have to spend for effects.

the effects will come later when I have more money. The cheapest I have found on the behringer has been over $160.00. The samson I bid on is at $99.00.
And who says I have to spend $100 for efffects. There is a yamaha reverb unit that has a buy it now price of $35.00. I can get a behringer minifx unit for $49.00 brand new.

I thought you wanted rackmount. 8-) I guess you can tuck those little things in anywhere, though.

it's kinda moot as I bought the behringer after all. Spent more than I wanted to. Another $15 and I could have just bought it new at Musician's Friend, LOL!

I'd like to thank Lonman and Mcky for their help in deciding what mixer I got.
