I am glad for those who are happy. As for me, I am afraid for our country. I hope I am wrong. I hope we dont regret what has just happened. Color has nothing to do with it! I am just very concerned now. I fear that we are going to be facing the worst days of our lives. I just hope I am wrong. Congratulations to those who supported him.

I think we all knew what the outcome was going to be.
But, you still hold out hope until the last minute.....
I too, am afraid for our country. God be with us all, cause I think we're headed downhill in a big way. Perhaps not, I'd love to be proved wrong, but I'll believe otherwise when I see it.
I'd love to rant and rave about the nature of what I'm seeing on TV at the moment, but, I best not go there.
Oh, and I'm moving back to Texas.

If there ever was a reason for Texas to become our own nation it is now! I agree Charmin, I want to rant and rave but it wont do any good. I, too, want to be proved wrong. The TV can suggest that everyone 40 and under voted for him, but I can tell you different. I know of 13 and 14 year olds here in Texas who are very concerned and afraid tonight because of this election. My daughter voted for the first time because she finally got old enough to vote. She definitely is upset tonight. She is now sitting on my bed, with tears in her eyes, not because her candidate did not win, but because she is afraid for our country. We have a president who has no business being Commander in Chief of our forces. What is going to happen to our national defense? I fear we will become part of the United Arab Nation before long! I hope I am wrong, but I am afraid we just sold out our country.

People, including myself, feared McCain and Palin getting in, maybe more than you feared Obama. Both are hawks, one old, hard headed, and errattic, the other believing she will witness the rapture during her lifetime, as well as being power hungry, and obusive with any power she may yield. She definetly showed on several occasions, she is ignorant as well as arrogant.

all due respect ML, why is it people equate an African American to being an Arab. Obama is a Christian. Obama is an American, and now Obama is our president. Have we not come far enough to not mistrust those who are different from us. I am PROUD that we have finally overcome our divide. NEVER in my life did I think Id see an African American as President. I can honestly say that the white guy whos run this Country for the last 8 years has dug us a hole that is so deep my grandchildren will be paying for his evil ways. Seriously, noone can tell me that Obama can do any worse than Bush did. Its time for us Americans to believe in our Unity once again. I think all these minorities crying right now on my TV is sign that we have finally become the UNITED States of America. I am willing to take a chance on someone who knows society from the bottom, and not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. my son got his (@$%!) kicked today in school because he voted for Obama in a mock election in school. He is 10 years old and now he is traumatized by the whole freedom to choose concept. Those little 10 year old thugs are the terrorists. and I believe that attitude starts at home with a cynicle Grandfather who calls our 44th president of the United States an Arab and a sell out before he even gets into office... Thats just MY opinion sir. Sorry our new president has ruined your rose colored glasses world.

Mike... You say a lot of things I've been thinking... and have heard from other people.
I think it's very sad that gazillions of people, who've never voted before, waited in line at the polls today (for hours) to vote for someone only because their skin color matches and they want to see a coloured man in the white house. My guess is they'll never vote again. Where were they 4 years ago when Bush was re-elected? If they wanted change so bad, they should have voted then. They'll soon realize their day to day lives will not improve (perhaps worsen)... and I wonder who they'll blame?
I don't care if our prez is white, black, purple, green, or blue.. (blue would be nice, Lol, go Papa Smurf)... but nobody should be elected (or not) due to ethnicity only.
Again, I hope I'm wrong. But I'm not looking forward to our near future. I don't think any republican had a chance in hades of getting nominated this term, not with everyone so scared another "Bush" will lead our country... but I don't think Obama is going to turn out to be the "saviour" his voters are predicting. He was just not a good dem choice. (imo)
Gosh, I better be done. I need to go check on the hubby anyhow, he's about to drive into town and start raising hell, and I'm not in the mood to go post bail tonight:)

You know what scares me? It's that so many people are willing to crucify the man before he even has the chance to do what THE PEOPLE elected him to do. He may not have been everybody's choice but he is OUR President Elect, chosen by WE THE PEOPLE.
Check the headlines folks, countries from around the world have a renewed hope for the USA that wouldn't have existed had McCain won tonight. I for one am very excited about the chance for a change to once again become the greatest nation on this planet. Mine may not be the most popular opinion in these parts but it is my opinion and I stand by it.
Peace to all.

I just seen the news in TV. If Malaysian were to vote for your President, Obama would have won by 87% according to a poll taken just before the voting stated.

I just don't think he was a good choice. Nor do I think McCain was a good choice. But, of the two choices, I casted my vote republican.
Of course you don't know the outcome... voting is a hell of a gamble. All politicians are known to lie like hell just to get your votes.... then they peel off their sheep's clothing.
I expected this outcome, never thought it would waiver to McCain at all... Again, it's not a matter to me of his Obama's color. It does matter that the polls were so one sided in some states due to his color... It's other things that bother me. (and I'm hoping many of those are untrue... time will tell)
It's almost 2 hours now since they named him (predicted) president elect. I still have the news on. Why am I only hearing stories about race? And what a monumental thing it is that we have a new black president? Why is Obama saying "we made history today" and quoting MLK? If those who voted for McCain can't say anything about race being an important factor in the voting, why can the entire democrat party dwell on it?
Peace everyone... just another lil' single voter expressing my personal views. I don't want to get in an overheated debate with anybody (matter of fact, I don't even wanna HEAR the word debate for a while, Lmao) - I respect your views as your own and would never take you to task on what you believe.

I have already said this was not about the color of his skin, apparently you cant read. The problem is the man Obama! I would have rather seen Biden elected president than Obama, not because of the color of his skin, but because he seems a man of much higher integrity. To me, Obama has no integrity. Your 10 year old definitly suffered a misfortunate situation. I am sorry that happened to him. I called him an Arab because he definitly was a practicing Muslim. He can call himself whatever he wishes, but I dont trust him. In my opinion, he converted for the sake of an election. In my opinion, he will, in the near future, return to his Muslim belief. I have made it this far in life by not buying into everything I hear. He is the president, yes, I give him that. I just hope You, sir, dont regret your decision to follow someone who has such a questionable, unreliable, anti-patriotic life. He will have to prove himself to me. You follow him blindly if you want to, I will only believe what I see.
You can say what you want about the last administration. I did not agree with everything Bush did, but we are a free country tonight, and you had the privilidge of electing your choice for president. Speaking as a person who has military background, I would have a tough time following someone like Obama. I fear what is going to happen to the saftey and welfare of this country. Again, and I dont need you getting on your high horse, just because I am not going to agree with your idea of what this country needs. You have a right to what you think, and you know what? So do I! You have your opinion and I have mine.
I started my comments saying congratulations to you. You won! In my opinion, our country did not! That is the way I see it. Color has nothing to do with it.
Are you out of your mind though to think that this country is now unified just because an African American was elected president? There is no way it is unified. If any thing, I predict things will get worse. I hope I am wrong. I have no problem with the color of his skin, just his associations, and some of his actions (specifically in not respecting my flag and /or my national anthem). Again, I hope I am wrong. Only Obama can prove to me that I made a mistake.
I am not trying to start an argument, just trying to express my feelings of concern and fear. Nothing personal was ever intended toward any of you who supported Obama. God bless your hearts! You got what you wanted! Let the rest of America be worried and concerned!

p.s.
I have indeed been reading quite a bit about what the other countries are having to say right now. Most all of them were unanimously holding their breaths that Obama would win.
I did read one forum where a person from Germany stated "America needs Obama to win, they think they are too almighty and I think a minority president would take them down a notch or two".
....
I'm all for a united country, perhaps this will put other people's faith back in the US. I'm tired of people calling us the "most hated and feared country" (quoted from one a those forums)... we're not such bad people.... Just poorly run the last few years.

i respect your words Charmin, but I cant see why people Are not proud to be part of history. Yes its a black thing , but so what. Would it not have been the same if Hillary ran, but with women?..believe me, there are not more black voters than white ones. If there werent so many whites happy to vote for a black guy, Obama would have lost (Bradly effect)..my state is very white, and we elected Obama. The thing that really gets me mad is the "here comes the apocolypes" people. why is our future any less certain than when Bush entered the White house. I beleive Obama is gonna bring a lot of foreign respect our way. it is the Hawks that create danger in the world. Carrying a big stick and being the bully, dont cut it anymore. It just makes the world look at us like bullies. I wish you guys would give him a chance..besides, chances are someone with these kind of redneck attitudes is probably gonna shoot him anyways..

Hey Clinton had no military background. How did he manage to keep us from becoming how did you say "the united states of arabs"..perhaps those who are less hawkish actually get more respect from the world. War is not the answer to everything you know.

Amen. Maybe now we can dig out of the hole that bush dug for us these past eight years. Funny how we can have a surplus with the last Democrat to hold the office and Bush just wasted it away to where now we are barely scraping by.

It worries me that certain countries are happy that Obama was elected. This could spell huge trouble for the U.S. Who the heck cares what other countries think? I certainly dont! I only care about the safety and preservation of the United States of America. It bothers me when I hear that certain questionable countries wanted Obama elected. Have they got something up their sleeves? Are they about to get a piece of the U.S.? Are we about to lose our country to someone else because we actually think people are basically good and just want to get along? To believe that, is not a good thing. I dont want to start an argument either, but I am worried. I want to see Obama do good for the country. He is president, but our fears of all we suspect about him cause many in this country to be cautious! It is what it is!!! Many people are not going to trust him, me for one, and I can promise you, I am one of, what the TV calls, highly educated voters. I not only have my masters degree, I hold a double degree, one in English the other in political science. I voted the way I did, with concerns for national security at the top of my list. It is a fact, our military presence in the mid-east is necessary.
