So I purchased a new mixer that has 100 effects in the fx processor. Now I need to figure out which fx to use for my singers. Mcky could probably give me a suggestion having had one of these boards before. I am thinkinking either #23 which is Vocal Plate, description has it as approximately 1.2s Reverb decay, or 88 which is delay + reverb 1, description has it as short delay + medium short reverb.
help please.

Behringer has two processors and sets of presets (at least). I think this is the type used on the 1202FX and the PMH518, which are the ones I don't use often. I believe I use 05, the small-medium hall reverb. I do use the plate from time to time, which is probably 23 or 25. And then on that one I think I most often use the 88 combo delay/reverb. Bear in mind I don't use these a lot -- the 1202 FX is on permananent assignment with my teacher.

These are 10, 03, and 76 respectively on the PMH3000, which I have used quite a lot. But I believe that is a different processor.

This list might help you:

As much as I stare into the Swarovski globe in front of me, the make and model of your new mixer eludes me.

I was quoting right off that list, Thank you for your help here and in helping me to decide what mixer to get.

In a general sense for vocals it depends upon the genre. Slow country takes small plate and A tad of chorus. 1.2 sec decay is way too long. Classic rock takes spring.

Of course the delay depends upon the acoustics and size of the room . There is no set settings only general then hours of experimenting

Very True.

Which is how I came up with my list. 8-)

Just my 2 cents worth here,,,I use the Behringer Xenyx 1832FX,,,love the thing to pieces! For the onboard effects, I use #4 (which I believe is for "small hall"). I turn the effects to about 30% and turn the mics to about 50%, and then the main effects to about 60%. All depending on the size of the room that is, smaller room, lower amount. Seems to work great, and nobody has ever said that its too much or not enough. I also for fun play with #59 (delay setting) and turn it up all the way, just for fun. It makes the crowd laugh..Just my thoughts. Like the others said, it'll take just some experimenting with your system and the rooms to find the best for you and your singers.

Okay used it for the first time and went with setting number four- mid hall and it worked perfectly. I posted pics in this topic: http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic. ... 083#213083

Delay is an echo and reverb is like a bunch of smaller echos like in a cave or a hall. Effects are often overused. Vocals should have some slight reverb to "wet" the sound. Not too much but just enough to start noticing the difference.
