BruceFan, I hope you don't mind I started a new thread on the topic you mentioned. The way I deal with that kind of group is to treat them all as one spot in the rotation. Fortunately, I don't have too many 20-somethings in this area, so it's not an issue very often. What stinks is when one person in that group wants to do a solo. I'll reluctantly put them up, knowing the inevitable will happen... the rest of the group will come up and "help". So now we all get to endure the entire group taking up 2 spots in the rotation. I'm very curious how Bill H handles this. I have the impression that his room is MOSTLY 20-somethings. Seems like that age group is more into "team singing" and less into "rock star" singing. |

One way to deal with it is to only let the person or persons whose name is on the slip get on stage. I don't do this personally, but I know some who do. If you do it, it's important that the customers know of this rule beforehand, otherwise you will have some angry people. I don't do it because it would seem to cause as many or more problems than it solves. For instance, what if you had a duet where one of the singers decided they didn't want to sing, so the other one got somebody to replace them at the last minute? With the above rule, that couldn't be allowed without someone getting upset that the rules were "changed". I deal with it by just telling the offending group that they are not allowed to be stage hogs, and their friends can't be up there with them every time one of them sings. It usually works. It's kind of a "special rule" just for them , although I don't tell THEM that. |

If it is the same group of girls each time I'll give them one spot in the rotation and give them a group name. Like the "(@$%!) Cat Dolls'. Then they are seen as one entity. If one of the girls puts in for a solo she will get a spot too, but none of them can sing more than twice in a rotation. |

I handle it pretty much like babs. Nobody sings more than twice in a rotation. If there is a group of say 3 or 4 girls that sing together, I will give them 2 spots in the rotation. I will usually do them right in a row also, to get them over with. Don't have a written rule, but that is pretty much how I do It. Felix the KJ |

...Same answer as the duets..........But however..I find Group singing to get a bit farcical......Drunken singers all shouting...plus I dont have enough mics... |
