Post subject: | Help required for noob please, VGA to S Video |
Hey everyon 1st post, so a big hello to everyone ![]() I am about to start doing karaoke at my local bar, and they have run all the tv's together to one cable, BUT it is S Video. My Laptop only has VGA output. The laptop is a month old, Samsung R60 plus. Question is, can i just get a cable that has VGA on one end and S video on the other and then connect it up or do i have to get a converter box to chance the signal (if it is different of course, this i don't know) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Woops |

No cable that I know of. The converter I use, which has not only SVideo but VGA and RCA out: http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=2 This allows you to have two or three screens quite easily. |

![]() What you are referring to will not work for the OP. He needs to convert from vga to s-video. I believe you are referring to a RF Modulator (which works for most laptops that have s-video out and need to go to coax or RCA) Mckyj57's suggestion is the correct one for this situation. |

Hey Thanks so much for the quick replies, so am i correct in thinking that i do actually need a converter as the signals sent via vga and s video are different? It is not just a case of using a connection adapter? Sorry if i seem dumb ![]() Thanks again for all your help. Oh, one more thing, i am in spain, i presume it will work here? If all ok, i will order the one you suggest and hopefully they will ship here, or try and get one over here. |

I would try to get one there. That way the power connections are compatable. |

In this case it doesn't matter -- the power comes from a USB port on the computer (or a powered hub). And yes, it should work in Spain as it has an NTSC/PAL switch. |
