Hi
I'm trying to buy a karaoke system for my family and I been to a few shops and the selection is just over too much and I cant work out what are the goods, the bad and the ugly and if I ask a saleman they tend to push the one that has more margin for them and not giving me a proper answer
Anyway what I am after is something of quality and so if I can get a good equipment for a sensible price then I'm all for it.
Currently I have these in mind
Microphone
Sennheiser EW 165 G2 Wireless
Sennheiser e865 Wired
Speakers:
EV Zx1-90 with EV sub the name escape me
Mixer
I have no idea right now I imagine I dont need power mixer since the
speakers are already powered.
Can someone care to comment or make recommendations?
many thanks
That is a quality setup. I normally recommend a Yamaha MG124CX mixer with compression and effects. Then if you added a dbx DriveRack PA, you would have a system worthy of gigging out anywhere, or hosting a party in a good-sized room.
If you have the funds and desire for quality and a clean setup, and wanted to rack-mount everyhing, you might consider a rack-mount mixer along with an appropriage case. I use the MG166CX (larger version of the one I recommended) and put it all in a rack mount along with my DriveRack PA and other processors. If you use the MG166CX, make sure you realize it takes 12U to mount and that leaves a lot of rack cases out.
Instead you may want to go with the SoundCraft EFX-12, which is rack mountable and has Lexicon Effects. Then if you later wanted to go with compression, you could get a dbx 266XL or something to put in the rack.
For your quality setup, I guess this is what I would recommend:
-- Rack mount case 10x4 or 10x6
-- Power conditioner (one space in bottom)
-- Soundcraft EFX-12
-- Equalizer (either high-end with DriveRack PA or dbx215)
-- Compressor (dbx 266XL or even a Behringer MDX2600)
-- Rack mount kit for your Senn. wireless
That would make it's environs look as good as the equipment is.
If you didn't want to rack mount, an alternative would be:
-- Yamaha MG124CX
-- Some sort of equalizer (DriveRack PA or DBX215)
That is lower cost, of course.
