Does anyone know if there is a free software out there that can rename the mp3 tag ID information within a properly named Zip file? Batch renaming and recursive subfolders handling are also preferred. Thanks in advance. This is truely a wonderful forum!! |

I sure hope, you're not the same BigDog who was traveling these forums before. Keeping my hope high, unfortunately there is no software I know of, that can rename MP3 ID Tags inside zip files. You could unzip everything, including subfolders with Mp3gtoolz, then rename the ID tags and re-zip them with Mp3gtoolz. |

No, this is the first time that I have signed up here. Should I change my user name? Cuz' I sure don't want ppl to hate me for reasons that I know nothing about! I was able to find a software that will do what I asked but it is not free....KJ File Manager http://www.latshawsystems.com/ProductDe ... nager.aspx However, I am not sure if I am ready to pay $80 for that feature. All of the files that I have are currently in seperate folders (Disc Name). One option that I have is to do what you suggested... 1. Unzip all files recursively. 2. Run mp3tag to update the tag info based on the mp3 file name (a very good program actually, but it is designed to rename mp3 files, not mp3 files within a zip file) 3. Repackage the mp3 and CDG file pair w/ MP3gToolz |

Renamers: http://www.debssoftware.com/ http://www.1-4a.com/rename/ If those don't work, try doing a search under the Black Member Area box to your direct left of your screen... type in "renamer" I know we've had this discussion about files in a .zip... |

Sax & Dotty's has a utility that will allow you to rename the files within the zip to the same file name as the zip itself. Not sure if it changes the mp3 tag though, you'd have to check. |

Don't know how serious you are about your karaoke adventure or song file management...but if you are serious the $80 would be money well spent. That program has saved me countless hours of song file management both for karaoke songs and my mp3 DJ library. Just my humble opinion |

THank you all very much for your help!! |

Debs renamer does something funky when you use it on files with (w-vocal) in the file name. Maybe I missed something but it leaves the (w-vocal) in the same place as it was when you tell it to swap the artist and the title sections. You wind up with THE (W-VOCAL) attached to the title instead of the artist section. |

I have a fair number of songs that I bought as singles, and a bunch that I ripped (supercore) that have the wrong name format, which compuhost won't retrieve. The new version of compuhost identifys the ones that have the wrong format, which I put in a separate folder. So my question is, what is the best way to go about renaming my files? Will the free version of kjtoolz do a good job on that? Thanks,Ron |

If the single tracks have been on Commercial CDG discs you can just name them with the Disc# and track# i.e. (SC8300-01) and MP3GTOOLZ will rename them for you using the KJ pro database in the format you desire...disc track - artist - title or disc track - title - artist. |
