Okay, so here's the dilemma.....(actually more of a random rant) I want to have multiple rigs so I can have an (independent contractor) host run one show while I do another. I know I've got the hardware to get, but duplicating the songs will start to get more challenging. I have legal CDGs for everything with a few tricerasoft and selectatrack downloads. I've also got a history of every song played in the last year in a database. My self wrote hosting software keeps track of each singer's song history also but the singers are not separated by venue (2 so far). I've yet to wrap my head around how to split my current collection in two without massacring the songlist. I know there will need to be a little investment in more discs until the second rig becomes self sufficient. Should I start by doubling up on my monthly subscriptions (Sunfly, PHM, Sound Choice), try to double up on my catalog stuff via ebay auctions? Ideally I should be able to write a script to parse out the best division of discs from the play history but this IS supposed to be a hobby (albeit mortgage paying)! Anyone ever been in this boat before? How did you stay sane (and married!) - Jonn |

I would still look for a basic core set like the Foundation 1 & 2 just to get a strong start. If you have a song history, that would be where I would go next, either by duplicating those songs via custom discs or find the actual discs they were on. Then if you are subscribed to a monthly service - getting all the new discs, IF you feel it is worth it & the discs get used (this service was a huge backfire in my case as the discs never got used), then yes double the subscription to get the same selection of new stuff in both libraries. Eventually if you need to duplicate the libraries, you can pick away a couple discs at a time if needed. Keep track of what songs are WANTED in the new system & go from there! |

The best deal for karaoke music right now is on ebay or craiglist. On ebay everyone who has purchased a DANSTEARNS hard drive (or like) with pirated music (100,000) on it is now selling their cdg collection on ebay and craigslist for next to nothing. I just bought a soundchoice collection for $500.00 which included 300 discs. Now do to the popularaty of running karaoke shows with pirated music on hard drives many legit karaoke companies are going out of business becase they cannot compete fairly, So now they are now selling their complete karaoke systems on ebay and craigslist very cheap. I run a legit business and in the end the people who bought the pirated hard drives will get their deserve so at this time I have no problem paying them for their old original cd's which they think they do not need anymore. Every one I have contacted has quoted a very high price like $35,000 for "all their disks, won't break them up", and offered to sell me a hard drive for 500 bucks. |
