I said $0, but the choice you put there does not accurately apply to me... I have been offered the rare/occasional tip, and have politely refused it. |

Would be interesting to see what the largest tip anyone's received at a private party or bar gig.... Private/corporate events are not in the same league as "bar jobs" and I don't have a problem accepting a tip for a job well done. |

One private party that I hosted, I was requested to invite a specific guest. He sang a few times, and was given a $50 tip. |

The greatest total tips I received at a venue was over $40. There was a $10 bill included! And in life you'll run into a big tipper from time to time. So, discounting the big tipper let's say that night was $35, if the big tipper were a regular type tipper? |

I am like cueball in this regard as I believe a tip can be viewed as a bribe. |

I KJ on a guest appearance KJ from time to time f one of the oher KJ's can't make it. I typically bring in close to 50 bucks a night in tips. They all go in the jar and I don't keep an eye on it because I don't want to know who is tipping me. I don't like to touvh the money coming in for tips. I do know I typically make more in tips than the regular KJ's but I think this is only because I know 90 % of the people in the bar and they know they probably wouldn't have had karaoke that night if I hadn't come in and that I have a day job and it really wears me out. A big combination of things going on there. When I worked on a regular basis I would average around 20 bucks a night. |

Ok, so some believe that accepting "tips" is a bribe, maybe? In my case if someone wants to drop a few bucks in my tip jar, I gladly smile and say "thank you" very politely. But it never changes how I run my show, it absolutely NEVER gets them preferential treatment. No favors. Period. I think that part is wrong. But if someone wants to graciously tip up, we should be polite, and say thanks. Nothing wrong with that. Now, with that said. At my shows the tip jar is always out. Some nights I get zippo! That's OK too. Other nights, I make bank! I had one night that I made $130 dollars in tips. But that was totally odd. For the average night, it is probably around 30 bucks. Pays for the gas. |

Tip jar? What's a tip jar? I get paid well enough so tips are not requested or necessary. |

I've contemplated taking a"bribe" from time to time but my conscious always makes me do the right thing. I truly believe it isn't worth ruining your integrity for a quick buck. As far as a tip jar.... I dont use one. |

I have tipped sometimes, and given a cdg as a tip sometimes, but I like the concept of the bar paying the KJ and pricing their drinks accordingly. Some KJ's deserve a tip, and some kj's give bad sound, quirky rotations, and then, oddly, you see them paying more attention to the level of the tip jar than to the quality of service they are giving... I put a tip jar out as people like to reward me for the fun time they have when I DJ/KJ. Sometimes its more sometimes its less. I NEVER EVER accept bribes. Anything people give me is in gratitude for fun time they had and enjoyment they got. Its voluntary on thier part and from the heart. And I always accept thier gratitude politely with a humble thank you and please come again with appreciation for thier gesture. Most times it adds up to maybe 20-25$---a combo of ones and 5's. Once in a blue moon might see a 20$ bill show up from a big spender. |

I get a little bit of everything. Some nights the tip jar is near empty, but on an average I'd say $20 to $30 dollars in a night. The most was $180 in one night. I don't take bribes and never mention I even have a tip jar. |

I'm a bit of both worlds, I'd like to not rely on tips but the reality is this. One bar pays me $75 for a show. At this bar I'll encourage tips for both the bartenders and myself, often a nice person will carry around the tip pig for me. I will also occasionally get a bribe, often towards the end of the night when my show is supposed to have finished. This makes the show economically viable. People often tip when I get a new CD with a song they requested on it, or get a song downloaded for them. There is a noted difference between a tip and a bribe and the crowd understands that, they also understand that the bar doesn't pay as much and therefore tip accordingly. My other venue pays $150 for a night and I get mostly 0-5 bucks in tips. I also don't make an announcement either way. |

I don't let people take the tip jar around. Sometimes I'm prying it out of their hands trying to explain that isn't necessary. If like classickaraoke I worked for tips or depended on them because the owner under paid me it would be a different story. I don't depend on them, but you do get used to getting them. I always fill up my gas tank with tips. If I didn't get those tips any more I'd miss them. |

I get paid by the bar but do get tips some nights. The regular singers dont tip nor do I expect them too. They are good for a drink though. Usually its a drunk older crowd celebrating a birthday that tips. |
