I'm experimenting with a kiosk and am running autokdj. I can't seem to get my lappies to get it together.
Can anyone give me a walkthrough on how to set it up?
I intend to run hardwired until I can get an extra router. Actually, I want to see if it's worth it to buy another router, first.
I have two older lappies that I'm willing to "risk" as kiosks, as most of my venues consist of rather well-behaved older crowd-type people who respect equipment.
I'll keep my books, of course, and use them for the people that are technically challenged/uncomfortable, and for the rowdier, harder-drinking gigs.
One of my older lappies uses a PCMCIA card to connect to the wireless and my main lappie has built-in.
Thanks!

can you open a web browser and surf to http://IP-of-autokdj-server/kcombo or /karaoke ? or better yet, on your server, can you surf to http://localhost/kcombo or /karaoke Do the AutoKDJ pages load? Are you running the latest build of both FE and autoKDJ?

Is your AutoKDJ set up on default port of 80, or did you change it?

You might not need an extra router, I've set up an ad hoc network where my extra laptop connects directly to my AutoKDJ machine

No, I'm not connecting for some reason.
If I don't have a router, how will I connect more than one lappie to my hosting machine?

No, I DID connect once I ran it on the local host machine.
I'm going to try to mess with it some more tommorrow.
I wish they had included better instructions on how to set it up.
It would have been helpful.

So I'm still fighting with this.
I can't seem to connect ad hoc either wireless or wired.
Any ideas?

Ok I got it working both wirelessly through my router at home and hard wired ad hoc through a cross over cable.
I'm really nto sure what I did to get it working but I won't complain! :)
I will not be bringing my wireless router with me to gigs, so I will be using it hard wired.
The problem is that when I have the crossover cable plugged in, I can't use the internet, even wirelessly.
Is this normal?
