Bluelaser DVG-888U Karaoke Player I am an amateur vocalist who sings regularly in pubs at Karaoke sessions and practises at home using a DVG-888U connected to an ancient music centre. My one luxury is a Shure Beta 58A mic. Powering up Problem Sometimes when I switch on the Karaoke Player, all of the front panel lights flash, but never become steady, so the "load" function is not displayed. I can turn the system off and on several times with the same result, before eventually getting a normal switch on. Would someone please explain why this happens and if there is a remedy? Mixing The player allows separate volume control of two mics and independent control of the backing track, which can be either DVD or CDG. The music centre gives modest control over base, treble and channel balance. Could someone please suggest a suitable mixer that might afford more definitive control? Gigs Does anyone think that the DVG-888U is robust enough to cope with gigs in pubs and the like and what would be an appropriate pair of powered speakers and say whether or not powered speakers are compatable with a powered mixer? Thanks in advance for any helpful information. |

I would NEVER sing out of the mic connections on ANY cdg player. Use a mixer with separate mic controls. You'll be far more happier with that. You can experiment with different vocal effects, and deliver a far stronger vocal control. Being able to adjust the high, low and midrange rather than the tiny spring effects like a player has. I used to work with a venue that used their players that way... and we kjs convinced them to go more pro! |

Thanks a lot for your comments Knightshow. I reckon that now is as good a time as ever to get that mixer, given that the UK's chancellor wants us all to spend our way out of the present recession. The stores over here are discount crackers at the moment! o-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------o If anyone out there has a DVG-888U, it would be great to hear their opinions on it. |

not saying you COULDN'T ... a friend of mine does it that way with her RSQ222. I just wouldn't do it. Especially not when you can get such supperior sound out of even a small mixer! |
