IS it wrong to ask a KJ to do a duet with you? There was one "MISSY" at The Cat's Meow in New Orleans, that I had a blast doing them with her and she willingly obliged. I've had others say No sternly and just wondered is it wrong to ask? |

I can't imagine any decent KJ declining such a request as long as it was your turn in the ROTATION. UNLESS they didn't know the song ? |

I was asked last Friday to duet with someone - as a host, it was a song I had heard dozens of times and even though I had never actually sung it, I gave it a go. The guy who asked me was a very decent singer - in fact, we had fun over the course of the evening doing backups with his buddy (who asked us to do it). I kind of winged it a little but he was SOOOO happy to have someone to sing a duet with (Lita Ford and Ozzy, Close My Eyes Forever). I will always endeavor to duet with singers that ask...and yes, in their rotation, unless it's the end of the night and there's only a couple of singers left. Many singers love to duet but it is often difficult to find a partner. Breaks up the monotomy during a show to have duets happen (except Picture, of course). |

I think it is one of the skills of a karaoke host to know the common duets and be able to do the other part. It is probably the area where I have most room to improve.I have difficulty with some of them (Leather and Lace for one) just because of range, but can do others. |

"Picture" is one that I will deflect to someone else in the room. I can usually find someone who will volunteer to do the male part with a little pleading. I grovel and beg with finesse and style. Other than that everything else is OK. |

Stop Dragging My Heart around and Who Says You Can't Go Home are two popular ones most seem to know... |

Yikes ! I hope it isn't a bad thing or I'd be in big trouble. Most of my regulars have a song that I duet with them. It maybe a real duet or just a song we've turned into one. Unforgettable, Bring Me To Life, Cruisin', Who Says You Can't Come Home, Picture, Let Me Be There, Drift Away, Save a Horse Ride A Cowboy, The One that I Want, Jackson, Summer Nights, The Beat Goes On, Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Joy To the World, Proud Mary, Mocking Bird, Jump Jive and Wail, Hot Hot Hot, Hey Jude, Love Shack, Time Warp, Man of Constant Sorrow Usually it is on their turn and I only do it if they request it, except for maybe Bring Me to Life because that is mainly me singing. |

See Babs, that's what I'm talking about.... What part of Chi town do you work at? I am up there a few times a year and always look for places to sing out by Naperville, Arl. Heights, Lincolnshire, but am not real familiar with all areas and aren't sure what ones are safe and aren't.... |

All those areas are safe. Once you get into the suburbs like you are describing there is nothing to worry about. It isn't like the inner city. The bar I'm located at is in Hanover Park. Prairie Station Pub |

If someone wants to sing a duet with me, I am okay with it as long as I know the song. Just Saturday night I had to turn down a duet because I did not know the song. |

I never turn down a challenge esp if I don't know it. Usually I say here is "Name Of Song" in the style of me, |

sometime people use wanting to duet with the dj as another way of getting up again during the same rotation. About a month ago I decided to do away with duets ..I got some flack for a week or so but after awhile that noone seems to miss it...besides its nice not having to hear Picture or Summer Nights 50 times a night.... Not allowing duets AT ALL? You can't be serious. |

He isn't. He is just the typical troll that says outrageous things to get a rise out of people. |

As long as it's their turn in the rotation, I don't care if they sing Skip To My Lou a capella. Duets are NOT out for me. I don't hear that many summer nights, though I am getting tired of Picture. If I could find someone to sing a Stevie Nicks duet with me I would be happy. |

I'm a glutton for punishment. If someone really wants to do a duet and can't find someone that will do it with them, I'll do it even if I don't know the song. I'll warn them 1st that I don't have a clue. Then hope they at least sing 1st, so I can get an idea of how it goes. I sang picture several times before I actually heard how it was supposed to go. No duets ! Now that's a creative way to allienate even more customers. I can't wait to hear your next one. It is quite entertaining. |

I rarely turn down a duet request from someone, unless I really don't know the song. I even sing Picture, even tho it's really an annoying song. I really kick butt on the song, and usually whoever asks me to sing it with them, does really well at it too. Just wish I could figure out how to mass hypnotize everyone into forgetting they ever heard the song tho!!. |

I don't have a problem with someone wanting to do a DUET with me... as long as it's THEIR turn in the rotation! |

Picture is not in my catalog. I only get asked about it 1-2x per month. I point out the page of duets and suggest they try one of those. If someone asks me to duet with them, I will do it regardless if I know it or not. It's good for the shy singers to see the host croak |
