While I was visiting the PCDJ site today - I saw that they recently released a new standalone Karaoke hosting program. I did download the TRIAL and have NOT really had a chance to DIVE into it fully to render an opinion. I can tell you it's a very good looking and simple to operate program. Automatic search function , moving rotation list, auto fade in and out of both Karaoke and Regular mp3's.
It seems to have the usual key changer and so forth. Singer history etc etc.

Once I really try it out I'll report back..just wanted to MENTION it in case some others wanted to see for yourselves.. price is $99
I'm not advertising just informing

It is Karma by Latshaw Systems, Licensed to PCDJ, Not a lot like Karma...it is Karma.
Look at the screen shots and you will even see "Bob L" (Bob Latshaw) listed as one of the singers.
It is a very nice program, I have played with the demo several times(that is Karma from Latshaw Systems).
I would like to see a change in how it handles fill music ...the ability to load a playlist instead of having to load a fill song every other track...karaoke, fill, karaoke, fill etc.
If that ever happens I will probably switch.
I know a lot on here swear by Compuhost, and believe me I have tried it several times, but it does not search the way I need a hosting program to search...I wish it did...actually it will search as I need it but I have to go 2 windows deep to do it, or select from a drop down top menu and I need something more convienent than that.

Good Catch ..Took a look at KARMA and it is the EXACT same program !
One good thing for ME is I can save $20 by buying from PCDJ as an "upgrade"
so for $79 I'll get a good KARAOKE hosting program. NOT that the PCDJ red with the KJ pluggin is BAD ..but for a show that is geared MORE towards Karaoke this new program might be better , has everything I'll need and no frivouls bells and whistles that a DJ might need.

I haven't tried this software yet, but I am pretty happy with the featureset on Siglos Karaoke Professional. It is also $99. It allows you to set up a fill playlist that fades in and out between songs without fail. The only feature I really wish it had (in regards to the filler) is the ability to cut down the volume on the fill music so that it was quieter than the Karaoke Music. I am always having to scramble for the mixer whenever the fill music comes on.

Does Compuhost have the ability to automatically reduce your filler music volume?

Yes, the filler tunes player has a separate Volume knob.

Yes.

WRT Siglos, I own it. But I find the interface maddening, and I willingly pay the $80.00 increment for CompuHost not to have to deal with it. It sounds good enough, and the feature set is OK, but the interface is awful. Just to pick one thing that blows, the key changer is sticky between songs. So if you set a song to -2, then unless you remember to change it next time the next song goes to -2. And that is just one issue -- there are others.

Not anymore. The latest Compuhost revision offers full drag and drop functionality. To search and add songs you may press F5 to instantly open the search screen, do a search and drag the selected songs on top of the desired singer. This way you can do multiple searches, dropping songs on any number of singers in one sweep.

Regarding the sticky key changer on Siglos, I think I have figured out the solution. If you have the singers songs all entered, you go to the far right on the screen, highlight the song you want to adjust, and click on "details" on the right (it might be "edit", I do not have the software opened at the moment). It wil open a window where you can change the key on that single song to whatever you want. When you save your changes, it will save.

So is Latshaw Karma now a finished program and available?

Is it available for the same price from Latshaw as from PCDJ?

I won't give PCDJ one more penny of my money. I had a bunch of problems with their software and their tech support was less than satisfactory. They can kiss my hot crossed buns.

Does the Latshaw program have tempo adjustment?

It may warrant a second look . . .

Oh, I know how to change the key. My problem is that if I set the key to -2 on one song (deliberately) then the default for the next song is -2. The default should always be zero, and you should have to explicitly set a key change.

And why are the minuses above and the positives below? And why don't double-clicks add the song and close the window? And why can't you rearrange the way windows are, so you don't end up with window on top of window on top of window...well, I won't go through all my complaints. They are many.

UPDATE- Now that I had a few weeks with this program a few comments:
I like the fact that the program loads up rather quickly and in the event of a power outage or OTHER interuption with your computer the prgram will boot back up without losing your playlist and or rotation ( NICE) - When it is time for a NEW show you click the NEW SHOW buttom and you're all reset. The program is simple to operate once you see it a few times. ( click and drag most things ) Sound is GREAT , KEY CHANGER works and it has a great rotation program that keeps your rotation going and great history keeping track of singers and songs. Also has the ability to fade in and out in the fly or automatically fade into FILLER OR DANCE TUNES. As a KARAOKE program for a KJ who is 90% Karaoke I give it an A+. ( I would buy direct from LATSHAW) versus PCDJ just makes sense to buy from the Creator.

When I DJ or combo DJ/KAROKE I still think the PCDJ red with the Karaoke is a better fit for mixing tunes as it is more suited for DJ and does not have the rotation mgt and or Karaoke History the PCDJ KARAOKE PRO has.
I am not saying it is the best or better than anything out there but I think it is probably JUST AS GOOD as any thing on the market

Not a surprised, it's built on the BEST sound engine, "BASS" You just won't find anything sounding better than Bass

Be sure it runs on your computer before purchase. Gladly I did not purchase because neither Karma or PCDJ KJ PRO will run on my laptop. no problem at home exept that I don't host off of the home computer.

I'm not too worried about it. The way I see it if a demo can't work properly, then it isn't worth buying IMO. It may be the best program out there, but it didn't work on my machine. I am content with my current software. Does exactly what I need it to do - play karaoke music.

Good point but keep in mind that a software might not work perfectly all the time, it might sometime run in conflict with you Bios, drivers...

About the software you're using, it would be my first pick if only it was built on Bass  But that will never happen
