I read somewher on here that there is an ignore option.
Can someone tell me where to find it and how to use it please?

I don't think there is one.
But I wish there is.

That button is in your brain. If you don't like what someone posts, just skip over it as soon as you see the person's name. It's quite simple to do if you truly want to ignore a person.

There isn't one in the sense of not seeing another's posts. I use Firefox and it has an add-on called GreaseMonkey. I adapted a script to expunge the posts of certain users whose posts I would prefer not to see.

Just out of blatant nosyness, why would you want to ignore anyone here? Everyone seems smashing & nice :D
If only there could be such a thing as an ignore button on a karaoke machine, would anyone use it?

I'd like to think so, but I am human and my failings are many. One of them is "restraint of tongue and pen". Sometimes it is easier for me not to react to someone's stuff if I don't have to look at it. Plus, there have been some people who posted so much that they were adding posts to every thread without paying attention to whether the post was on topic or not. Rather than have to wade through the constant attempts at witticisms, I found it easier to not even have to look past them.

Ahhh, if only that were true. :(

There used to be a ban button. I'm not sure why it was taken away.

Post subject:  Re: The ignore option

the ban button was discontinued due to the fact it took SO many bans to actually get someone banned...

and in the meantime, we had a member that began to ban BACK in a retaliatory measure against those that tried to ban HIM.

So we had a fairly new member (someone that had been a member for a while but not participated in the forums) issuing bans against longstanding members for no reason at ALL.

To be honest, when I got MY ban notificiation, it didn't surprise me. Heck, I was surprised I hadn't received one before. I make NO secret if I think some idjit IS an indit! LOL! And by the same token, I know I've rubbed folks the wrong way. If I get irritated, I post about it. Let Loose the Dogs of War, I say!

The point is... the ban button DID NOT work the way most of us felt it should.

There are enough moderators on here that catch the spammers and will remove offensive posts.

The rest should be up to us. If you know a member here can and WILL post scathing things, ignore them. Don't feed the trolls.

I have fed them in the past, and while they don't mulitply like Gizmo did, they can become encouraged to be even more trollish. My problem is I like what they have to say some of the time. Trolls are not often COMPLETE trolls.

So true, knightshow.
Too bad we can't make them see the light, no matter how hard we try!

Matt you are so right. The best way to deal with constant flamers is ignore them. "Don't feed the Trolls"

I find it hard to do at times because I feel the need to defend myself. But I also realize once someone has it out for you it is hard to make them stop no matter what you say.

Again, Babs, what you say is absolutely true.
I, too, sometimes feel the need to defend myself at times. However, from here on out, I will try my best not to do it.
It's really not necessary and the person doing the "trolling" shows their true colors anyways.
It would just be nice if they just quit it, though, especially the thread-highjacking.
In such cases, I will make an extra-special effort not to respond as it really does take away from the thread.
