Does anyone have any nominations for the dumbest karaoke song ever put on a disk?

My nomination is Short Shorts by The Royal Teens

"Who wears short shorts

We wear short shorts

they're such short shorts

we like short shorts"

That's the whole song right there. Why would Sound Choice include that in The Foundation?

What might be worse is that it made it to #3 on the charts back in the (what must have been a bad) day.

I know this is a matter of taste and I wouldn't be surprised if one of my favorites was nominated by someone else.

"La Grange" by ZZ Top has about a minute of singing and the rest is instrumental. So from that standpoint, it's kinda dumb.

Sorry,

But I believe this is the "winning" entry - Tequila - DK3090-04

PS

FYI Tom, "back in the day" the allure of the song was the subject matter SHORT SHORTS, which were a whole new phenomenon at the time, and not the song itself! Back in those days modesty still counted and short shorts were considered to be less than modest in some circles

I'd second Tequila, but it's quite fun to play before anyone has the courage to sing :D

I wonder if Short Shorts might have some value as a warm up for the crowd? A KJ might possibly have all the men in the bar sing the "who wears.." part and all the women sing the "we wear..." part.

Or it might make everyone say "this is the dumbest song I ever heard"

I happen to like "Tequila", and yea, I've initiated quite a few "non singers" in with that song, and suddently, they're old hands at it, handing me slips left and right.

"Blue( Da Ba Dee)" is probably the worst song I've ever heard in my life. Sadly, I HAVE sang it! LOL!

I'm cheating because I don't know that this has ever been put into karaoke format, but how about the theme song to the 60's "Batman" TV series?

The lyrics go:

Batman
Batman
Batman, Batman, Batman

And that's it.

Not quite -- you forgot the "duh duh duh duh duh duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh duh duh".

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I HATE it when people sing Sir Mixalot's Baby Got Back for karaoke...

Gotta admit... as a KJ it puts a smile on my face when I get handed a slip with "Baby Got Back" on it. Good things are sure to follow...

I had a couple of attractive females sing this as a duo on a regular basis for awhile. It would often be the highlight of the night.

If you know what I'm sayin'...

I don't have "Tequila" but I might actually have to get it because it's come up a couple of times outside my home room. My home guys, being mostly under 30, are a little too *ahem* mature for something this juvenile. ;)

My vote is for the song "Super Chicken". Dumb song !

The song "Tequila" works great for a person that doesn't want to sing and thier friends are insisting they do it, even though the poor person can't carry a note in a bucket. I can't tell you how relieved the person is when they find out all they have to do is yell "Tequila" a few times.

I've had it happen a few times where a person comes in with a group of people on a regular basis and they all sing, but them. The friends torture the poor person with the fact they have to sing. I put the whole problem to rest by using the song Tequila.
The whole bar gets into it yelling tequila with the singer, so it's a win win.

As for Baby Got Back, I have a singer that NAILS it every time. He doesn't even look at the screen. EVER.
It's a very enjoyable rendition.
However, some of the others that try to do it... well.... umm.... I'll say no more. LOL
As for Black Horse and Cherry Tree, I don't understand the lyrics either, but I can sing it rather well and so I do. It's upbeat and has a bluesy feel to it and that's right up my alley!

I know people like this song, but I have to say to me it is the absolutely most boring irritating song on earth. "Ring of fire"

I of course never tell people this because people do the song. I really don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. I've learned to just smile and tune it out. Totally a personal thing I'm sure.

How about "Da Da Da" from that Volkswagon commercial in the mid 90's? The commercial showed 3 guys driving in a VW, and all that you could hear in the background was the three words said over and over... "Da Da Da." On the CDG, there's a small part that has 1 or 2 sentences in German. I believe it's on a Music Maestro CDG.

Sounded like the OP was asking about some songs that are long but have very little words?
ANyway, I have to my vote in for the Chicken Dance - no words in it, but we get a couple people that come up & do it, at least the dance! Also have to say Alley Cat - another no word song, however the guy that does it is pretty funny as there are supposed to be words & he will wait by the mic as if he's going to sing & when the words are supposed to come in he'll step up to the mic & take a breath then look around on the screen exhale & step back until the next time words are supposed to come up. His friends tease him that it's his best song - he never says a word in it!
Chicago - Color My World is another song with a long intro & maybe 1 minute of actual singing.

All right that does it! I guess I'd better get "Tequila" then!

But at least for now I'm still passing on "Alley Cat"....
