A Wal-Mart worker died after being trampled when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island store Friday morning, police and witnesses said.

The 34-year-old employee, a temporary maintenance worker, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.

Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

Just f (@$%&#!) ing great. See what greed does? Taking a persons life so you can save $100 on a flatscreen TV. What is this world coming to? Things like this really p i s s me of. Get up at 3am, stampede like a (@$%&#!) maniac to save few $$$ I hope the security cameras were rolling and they catch the killers of this poor man, hang them by their necks untill they die.

While I'm anti-capital punishment, I agree with everything else you just said. It's for this very reason and this very reason alone I refuse to EVER participate in these post thanksgiving sales. (Except for the really good music deals you find on Amazon.com!)

While I don't enjoy shopping or bargin hunting, I fully understand why someone would. What I don't get is the Lord-Of-The-Fliesesque behavior that people display at these sales. There is truly no excuse for anyone to get hurt, let alone killed, at these things.

I'll tell ya, I normally stay away from Wal*Mart, but if I have to go, I travel 20 miles to a small town with a Wally, I won't go to the ones in Milwaukee. No respect for your car in the parking lot and insides are dirty from all the piggy people that shop there. You ain't lived until you see a 25 year old (@$%&#!) rusty sedan pull in next to your car and they just bang their doors into your new car. They just shrug their shoulders or threaten you.

I would also blame Walmart for not having proper security to control these idiots. They know how out of control these events can get and shame on them for not providing a safe environment for their customers to shop in.

As for the folks who trampled this poor guy to death. I would say they need to be assessed some jailtime and undergo some serious aggression counseling as they were directly responsible for this mans death.

If they were in their cars it would have been vehicular manslaughter but because they were on foot I guess it's just "oh well these things happen when people are in a crowd"

It would seem like it would be very easy for the store to control this by your place in line. They could give you vouchers for the items you came for and this would assure you that you do not have to sprint to each location within the store to claim your item.

This whole day after thanksgiving thing has been getting out of line for too long. I have never participated in this event in my entire life and this tragic accident has prevented me from ever considering it in the future.

My heart goes out to the Family and Friends of this unfortunate victim of "Christmas Greed"

political correctness has replaced so many things like manners and common decency...bring back the cane in schools so as if they dont get taught respect and manners in the home at least they will know right from wrong at school.
Bring back the stocks in the town square and the lash

In Greeley Colorado we have a super walmart and small communities around where the fire departments and EMT'S are voluntary. Had such an event occurred (never would here) you would have 500 adults giving first aid on the spot.

In the parking lot here people will stop and let you back out. There you would think they want the parking spot Here they are being courteous. Take your rat race and shove it.

I caught a glimpse of a news report on FoxNEWS this morning saying police were reviewing security tapes in the hope of finding someone to charge in the Wal-Mart death. I sure hope the guilty parties were able to save themselves a few bucks after trampling the employee to death.
