in that price range on speakers you might as well go with EV SX 500+ .they are less expensive and blow away any other speaker i've ever heard. Honestly if you buy them you will never want another speaker. I used them on my PPM808s without a problem, but the extra power of the 1008 would help.

Lonman, I'm waiting for your imput. Is the larger speakers worth the x-tra coin?

Stay away from Mackie speakers. Much better out there like Electro Voice, Yamaha, QSC, FBT, RCF, Peavey . . .

Mackie's days of greatness are behind them. For the money or any other measure there are better products out there. You need to go out and listen to several products, compare the sound and definitely lift them up.

Research, do your homework.

In all fairness to Mackie, I use a Mackie board and I have a pair of SM350s and a pair of SM450s, as well an 18-inch sub. The most inexperienced sound person can step up to the board and make those babies sound good, so it makes my job very, very easy. BTW, the new SM450s are a bit spendy but the prior model is still available for a very, very good price. The day that I stand in front of those speakers and the mix doesn't sound sweet to me is the day that I'll replace them.

Well I wouldn't diss Mackie speakers like that I still like the SRM450 very much, but the QSC speakers are much better - don't get me wrong Mackie puts out a decent speaker - I prefer their mixers still over most in their price range.
What are you looking to use these for, the 225 is a dual 15" which IMO has no place for karaoke since you are never in most situations going to be able to get them over the crowd like they should be - NO dual 15" for that matter, no matter what brand.

For the past two years I have been using a pair of c300's hooked to a sampson XM910 powered mixer. The system sounds gr8 but I am one thats never satisfied. The club holds about 400 and on a good night we will have 300. The stage is 30x15 and sets three feet above floor level. I was thinking that dual 15's would sound better than one 12, i dunt know??????

The best reason to not buy Mackie is that the company is going belly up.
