I cme across a label brand offered by way of NuTech at:
SAV "A" Ultimate Country - "A" Series
over on ebay. Do any of you have an informed opinion of this particular label offering? This is a new one for me and I'm interested in some of the tracks being offered.

Thanks. I just now went ahead bid on one of the several identical bids offered for it. I hope I'm successful. I should know by the end of the day. If not I'll try for one of the other ones. I saw quite a few of the golden 'oldies' Karaoke C&W songs I didn't currently have but would enjoy having in my collection.

I bought this set for the same reason... to plug some holes in my classic country catalog. Most of this set sounds fine to me for this kind of material.
The biggest problem is that some of the songs don't highlight the words as you are supposed to sing them.... Have Mercy, 16 Tons, and Big Bad John come to immediate mind. Also this is a pretty subtle set soundwise. There are definitely more kick#(@$%!) versions of Folsom and Ring Of Fire for example. But all in all it's a great deal and most of these tracks are appropriate for the material.

you'll find the SAVA series much better than the SAVP (Pop) as far as quality, with the notable exceptions that a few don't highlight very well. Now there ARE a few gems in the SAVP, but not enough where I'd suffer through the whole set.
I did LIKE the SAVA stuff, but have replaced most of them with Chartbuster, SC, and Pioneer.

Yeah,
There are some problems with some swipes, but many of the tracks are the best around. For example, I had previously used a Chartbuster disc for the song "City Of New Orleans". After I had purchased the SAVA set, but before it had I arrived, I was at a show where someone sang "City Of New Orleans" and I liked that version better than the Chartbuster version. The KJ informed me it was the SAVA version; which is the only version I'll sing now.
I'm a big Merle Haggard fan. The SAVA arrangement of 'That's The Way Love Goes" has no equal. The Chartbuster version is off as to the musical arrangement and lacks backup singers.
"Where've You Been" by Kathy Mattea is right on and provides the clearest rendition of the melody facilitating the proper intonation for a very difficult song to sing ("hear")
I could go on but you've already made an excellent decision to buy the set. Enjoy!

If you are looking for older country, personally I would save my money and buy some Chartbuster collections instead. There is a new 500-song collection that really covers the bases and is less than $200.00.

Thanks. I awoke this morning to find a notice that I was the winning bid, actually the only bidder as it turned out. I'm looking forward to getting the compilation. I think for $39.95 (W/FREE shipping) I couldn't go wrong from what all of you are saying about it. Again, thanks.
ps
I bid on a different ebay offering of the item than the one I placed a link to above.

Congrats, Ron! It was a no-brainer:
500 Chartbuster for $200 +SH?
or
350 SAVA tracks for $39 delivered?

In addition to Eric's comments, this set also has the best and most accurate version of "For The Good Times" that I've got... don't have it on SC though which I imagine is also good.
There are some real gems in SAVA.
