Tonight I had my system going and right in the middle of a song without prompt of any type the volume on my speakers jumped up about 3 fold. This didn't come from my mic, it was coming from the karaoke music from the laptop. I had to turn the channel fader down to almost nothing to get it to match the volume of the mic. I tried changing channels to no avail, no change. The level meter jumped from 0 nominal up to between 3 and 6 in the yellow. I repeat, I wasn't near the mixer when this happened, it just happened on it's own. So now I have to keep the fader next to zero while maxing out the fader for the mic. Any suggesstions? ALmost sounds like a bad connection between the laptop & the mixer. Start by checking your cords. |

@ the laptop: Pull the vol control for the music output down. @ the mixer : You could try the gain knob before pulling the fader down. And as Lonnie said check cables and what ever other connection you have between your laptop and mixer. |

Try a new cable from the laptop into a different mixer channel. Then isolate the problem from there. if it goes away, it could be the cable or mixer channel. If it doesn't, then it might be the laptop output. Think of the signal chain linearly in seperate components including cables and eliminate your variables. |
