Hi everyone, I am about to get myself an Apple Mac Pro. Apart from using it as a desktop PC, I want to set it up as a really good Karaoke machine. I also have a Behringer Eurorack UB1204FX mixer that I would like to use. As software I am thinking of kJams to replace my RSQ e500n Karaoke player.

Could anybody help me with the setup? Do I need any additional hardware (audio interface)? What's the best way to connect the Mixer to the MAC? Any idea on speakers and where to connect them to?

Maybe that's all a buch of dumb "newbie" questions, I'd still appreciate your help!!!

:P

For audio interface i'd recommend the Lexicon Alpha. Plugs into the USB of the computer & then to your mixer where the player normally would.
Not sure on the speakers? What are you using now? Is this for mainly home or club use? Size of the area? Any outdoor shows?

I'm using kJams Pro on my Macbook Pro for Karaoke. I like it well enough. It's not perfect but I still like it.

Unless you are claiming to have every best version of every song, I wouldn't replace your RSQ e500n Karaoke player. Keep it in your system so you can play Disc that may be brought in by singers. Always good to have disc backup of your laptop in case it dies on you.

Home use only, the room is around 400 sq.ft . As for the speakers, I've read that it's better to invest in a good set of stereo speakers rather than even the high end PC 5.1 speakers.
