Zoom is pretty decent, I have heard a clinker or two but for the most part very acceptable - wouldn't say the best around, but that is very controversial around here as everyone has personal preferences & dislikes. Zoom do tend to be a little on the bassy side, other than that I have quite a few.

I have Platinum Artist vol. 83 & 103, which is the Smith's & Morrissey vol. 1 & 2. They are the best vesions of these songs. Have a Michael Buble one which sounds good, and a couple more that sound great.

I'm not sure how GOOD they sound, but I just looked them up, and OMG!!!, for the price there selling for, they BETTER be the BEST around. The prices I saw equalled to AT LEAST $1.50 to $2.00 per song, AND THAT DOESN,T INCLUDE SHIPPING. Don't look like I'll have a ZOOM library anytime soon. I know that wasn't the question you asked, but after seeing the prices, I just HAD TO comment. Sorry, I'll shut up now.

Yep, that is the norm for quality songs such as Zoom or SC.
I think Zoom is every bit as good as SC.
Just my opinion.

Selectatrack.com also sells Zoom as individual tracks, you can hear smnippets there as well.

$15-20 per 15 song disc is a decent price for quality tracks today for the most part. The THM/PHM with only 9 songs still run between $14-18 each. Go back when I first started buying discs cdg's of almost ALL quality (good & bad) ran between $30-45 per disc. Then the bad started getting weeded out & dropping prices under $15.
Laserdiscs were upwards to $150 per disc when that was all that was available.

Zoom is pretty close to average price for those buying CDGs and going after things that aren't the usual. I'm not sure how many Zoom I have but I really like the quality of them. Smiths aren't available on anything other than Zoom, are they? I've had a hard time finding their stuff and never thought to check Zoom.

another thing to consider is that Zoom has prided itself on making customer requests as much as possible.

The Rick Springfield, Eagles, Joss Stone, and many of their Platinum Artists discs were just to satisfy karaoke enthusiasts!

I haven't looked into Zoom, do they sell in (bricks), or something to that effect, or are they just single cdg? At least with Soundchoice, you can cut your cost by buying in bulk, such as their FOUNDATIONS, or in BRICKS. A brick will cost you $109.00, but you get 120 songs, that's less than $1.00 a song. But I guess when you just (have to have) that certain song, YOU'RE GONNA PAY. My first cdg was Soundchoice, and I paid $35.00 for it, but looking back now, I wonder if it was worth $35.00 so I could sing Locomotive Breath by Jethro Tull.

I think most of us have been there also. :D

I also did a few of the SC custom at $5 a song, but at least I got all of what I wanted...so it was still a bargain in my eyes.

What you need to ponder is: Has singing Locomotive (off of your disc - a version you like and know) brought you $35 worth
of pleasure....I am willing to bet it has! :D

So was it worth it?

RLC, DEFINATELY, worth it at the time. But, now that I'm MORE INFORMED, I can investigate further, and get a better deal, instead of running headlong into a COMPULSIVE BUY. But in this day and age, I guess we all do some COMPULSIVE BUYING at one time or another. :D

With Zoom, iut is even better. You can download them for $1.00 per song if you buy the hundred-pack at tricerasoft.com. That avoids the dups.

I think it's in my top 3, and maybe #1. Still a bit limited in available titles though.
