I was planning to get a pair of Behringer B212A for my home karaoke system but now looking at other and better alternatives after reading Mickey's post on Behringer actual troubles.

What's your opinion on the following speakers, Carvin LM12A ($400) or Yorkville NX25P ($450)? The Carvin actually looks pretty good based on its spec.

Carvin LM12A:
- https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/ ... duct=LM12A
- Freq. Resp.: 57 Hz to 18 kHz ±3 dB
- Useable LF: 46 Hz (-10 dB)
- Bi-Amp: LF 300W RMS, HF 50W RMS
- Impedance: 8 ohms
- Power Handling: 350w continuous, 700w peak
- 127 dB max SPL
- 12" neodymium woofer with 2.5" LF voice coil
- 1.5" neodymium titanium HF driver
- Inputs: 1/4 inch and Speakon
- Weight: 34 Lbs.

Yorkville NX25P:
- http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?t ... =22&id=338
- Active 2-Way Bi-Amplified
- 180W (LF) / 20W (HF)
- Freq. Resp.: 70 Hz to 18 kHz
- 120 dB max SPL
- 12" Ceramic Magnet Woofer
- 1.4" HF aluminum w/ Neodymium
- 3 band overall EQ controls
- Weight: 42 Lbs.

Any other suggestions in the sub $400 range?

Out of those two i'd opt for the Carvin. I have used their equipment in the past & they sound pretty decent. Plus you are going to have more power (350 watts vs 200 watts), higher SPL (volume) & deeper bass response over the Yorks.

I just gigged out for the first time with my new Yorkville YX15P, which I got for $426 apiece shipped. They are a 15" speaker, though. 180W low freq, 20w high freq, 122db max SPL. They are more than enough for home use, and will rock a small-medium venue pretty well. They went plenty loud tonight, with enough bass for some good dance tunes, but stayed crystal clear. I was extremely pleased -- they were everything I was looking for -- a good sounding low-end speaker that would fit my typical non-bar gig.

I am sure the Carvin sounds good, too, but I am impressed with Yorkville every time I hear them. And for a home party, I would be surprised if you got anywhere near 120db. 8-)
