I want to record karaoke live and I have to pc computers, an m-audio firewire interface, a bose L1 Model II speaker/pa package with the audio engine (for stereo outs). I could record through my second computer, but that seems a little much. I've seen karaoke dj's crank out cd's through software really fast. I run compuhost but have no idea how to setup it up to record. Do I need another software program? What are the hottest karaoke software programs people are using today? What is the simplest and best sounding setup to record and pump out cd's fast?
I use Audacity on a 2nd computer although I probably could use it on my show computer, just don't want to put any extra strain on it. Unfortunately I don't burn cd's, the singers get the songs emailed to them, this way I can do a little mastering & dynamics before sending them out.

Also, I'm thinking of adding a compressor to my setup to boost quiet singers and add more quality to my recordings. Any suggestions?
Compressor won't really boost the quiet singers, compressors help to level out peaks of louder passages so you can turn the volume up a little on the mic. Good compressor is the dbx 266XL, a better one - also has a limiter built in, nice for those screamers is the dbx 166XL.
