I got my new 640 gig hard drive installed and formatted it to the ntfs file system, compuhost and fast tracks v2 is now installed and i'm ready to load up all my cd's to the new hard drive. I plan on using the computer to directly play all my tunes. Not planning on using my jvc cdg player anymore. All graphics and lyrics to be displayed on laptop.I will set up a remote monitor when i get everything changed over and running. I was wondering what is the best format to save file as?My options are zipped mp3 +g, mp3 +g, zipped wma +g and wma +g. I wouldn't think i would want to use a zip format as they are mainly for archiving?i will want to be able to call the songs up and play them directly via the compuhost program. So wma and mp3 are just use different codecs, windows media audio and mpeg-1?Is one better than the other? Was thinking that i could have saved as a wave file but that option is not available, maybe because of the file size? Seems like my obvious choice is mp3 +g,just want to make sure i'm on the right track because i am going to have quite a little time invested here. i only have about 100 cd's currently. |

Mp3+g using a Lame encoder and because you have plenty of space, 224k and up would be best I'd stay away from wma, it's only good if you wish to encode at less than 96k, Lame is way better. And for a drive that only has music, I prefer FAT32 versus NTFS, you get a better sound |

I also have Compuhost, with Fasttracks V2, I am ripping cdgs to (zipped) mp3+g, which is the most PREFERRED format recommended by Compuhost. The songs are readily available with a few clicks of the mouse. HAVE FUN RIPPING, and remember, you're not alone, I have AT LEAST 100 cdgs to go, and I've been at it for weeks already. Rosario |

Glad I did, cause I was serious But don't worry, only a 10% improvment but I'd take anything for a better sound |
