Just got the pro fx12 about a week or so ago, haven't had a chance to use it yet, too busy ripping cdgs. I'll let you know, once I've had a chance to use it. I've been reading alot from the manual also, so I'm sure I'll like it. By the way, WELCOME to the forum.

I was able to use it a few weeks back & it's actually a very nice little board. It is basically the replacement/upgrade to the DFX series & it is much cleaner sounding. Better pre-amps were installed, eq a little bigger, the addition of a midrange control on the channels & USB I/O!

With USB I/O, can it be used as a recording interface like the Lexicon?

hands down the best board ive ever seen in Karaoke use. to say I love mine is an understatement. the ONLY downfall ive seen is lack of a compressor. so I just have 2 rack mounted in line ahead of the mic inputs. yes they cost almost as much as the mixer, but the mixer was cheap for what it is.
It can be used for desktop recording and comes with software for doing so.

Yes. It can even act as a sound card as well.

Any one knows how many simultaneous recording tracks the Mackie ProFX8 can handle?

Since I believe the output is just the main mix is what's sent to the computer, you can record a completely full mix of all channels simultaneously.

I have to be honest , i havn't taken the software out of the sleve. I thought it was a 4 track recording, so that it could be mixed later. as i said I havn't given it a thought. I bought it for karaoke , and it works great for what i wanted.
