If it's anything like the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th movies, sit back and get comfortable for a long run.... LOL

Imagine - Rocky 17. I've never had anyone ask anything about music from these prepubescent productions. Not sure if I could answer with a straight face that I didn't have any of it... and in fact can't say I'd recognize it if it hit me in the face. Interesting that there are adults who enjoy it. Must be regional.

Can't say that I've had a single request for any song from any HSM. Must be because I work in places where the customers are adults. Strangely enough, though, I do have people singing Disney songs (from the animated movies). Probably they have fond memories of them from their childhood. That rationale wouldn't apply to HSM.

Wait about 10 years!

I do a number of gigs at churches and parks, and I have plenty of prepubescent girls who have done HSM songs. I bought two Hannah Montana, an HSM, and make sure I have every Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood song, and I am covered for that age group. 8-)

Micky, you are correct, I too have those songs, both karaoke and non karaoke. I learned real quick to never walk into a middle school event without them. :D

I noticed that our local Live Karaoke Band recently added "Best of Both Worlds" (Hannah Montana) to their playlist. I don't see why they'd learn that one, since there are no kids at their shows, which are at bars and start at 9 or 10 pm. Most of their playlist is rock. I've never seen anyone sing it, though in fairness I've only been to two or three of their shows since they added it.

They may do some fundraisers or other events, too.

Have never had any requests or interest in the HSM except from my kids friends (ages ranging 7-12). But since they are not old enough to go into the clubs, it's moot to want these. If I was still doing private parties & kids shows, i'd most definitely want these, but not for adult shows in clubs.

The original Disney songs I get request for - Jungle Book Bare Necessities is probably the biggest request i've ever had for Disney anything from adults.

Musically the show is pretty sound and the choreography is great...having been a choreographer myself for 4 yrs for several musicals including Bye Bye Birdie, God IN Heaven Live, Friends, & Nothing but Broadway ... i was very impressed!!! Its not about if its a kids show or not its about loving the arts...all arts

I'm sure the choreography is great...it's been very successful. I have done choreo. as well, and danced on stage for years, so it's not about not appreciating the quality of it. I just have NEVER had an adult ask for anything from those shows. I don't do kids shows unless they're private gigs, and I have found that with the kids' music I have, they're very satisfied and have never asked for HSM. (Little Mermaid, etc.)

The way the brit laws are, approval of full disks by an "Artist" needs prior approval of the artist, therefore some entity like HSM owned by Disney (and legally they are the artist in terms of negotiating) is less than likely to approve the legal rights to make such a disk, especially if they are coming out with their own product.

On the other hand the British laws do not prevent a karaoke company from making a single song from an event/artist/whatever and selling it on a mixed CD. Therefore expect most of the HSM #(insert infinitely growing number here) songs coming from overseas (zoom, sbi, sunfly and now SC) to come out a few songs at a time on mixed CDs. I think the "unapproved" limit is less than half of the songs on a cd coming from a single artist.

It sounds like disney has a good idea here, go for high school kids (where the whole age group has similar experiences, and easy to manipulate taste). Put a few good song writers and producers and coreographers in with some trainable talent (that does not have to be even "great", but must be "good looking", and deposit a few truckloads of profits in the bank. Repeat as needed. I do not see this ending anytime soon and it probably will end up as a TV series. I do not see this music going out to become popular with the 25+ crowd, but with mass production of songs they might stumble on something that is actually good and crosses age boundaries.
