OK, I am using an earthing loop remover (or whatever) in-line between my laptop and mixer to remove the hum. Is this considered a fix, or just a temporary solution? Also, soon to be moving from RCA cables (as am using a DJ mixer) to jack cables (as am buying a vocal mixer). Does this problem manifest over those cables too? |

(I am not sure it will always work, especially in the case where you have a satellite or cable plugged into a television you attach to. But you can cross that bridge when you come to it.) Does this problem manifest over those cables too? Should be no difference -- they are both two-conductor cables coming from the same connections. |

My biggest hum is between the laptop and mixer. I tried the Hum X ebtech at the main outlet. I found it works best for me to plug the laptop in to the ebtech and the ebtech into my surge strip. In the meantime, I've come to the conclusion the Behringer UCA202 is a piece of junk. The music sounds no better, the volume control on it doesn't work and the sonic blast continues. When I use the 1/8 to 1/4 jacks, no hum, no sonic blast and I can turn the volume up and down. |

I don't own the UCA202, but do own a similar piece of equipment, the Soundblaster MP3+ device (USB). It has a volume control on it, but I don't use it. With the computer volume, and then the mixer, I have no problems. Have you thought about using a USB connected mixer? I have a Numark one I use for small venues, and love it. No FX, but I have that on my amp/mixer. For medium sized venues and up, I use the Mackie mixer with the SB device as my connection. I've personally seen crappy connections with that 1/8" to 1/4" to RCA, or the 1/8" to RCA cords... lots of static buildup in them. I tried them initially, and gave up. Now granted, it was an older PC in both instances... probably the onboard sound chip was crap, as was the headphone connections. |

I have used the u-control soundcard since January and have zero complaints on it. Sounds great with my system. Definately NOT a piece of junk or I wouldn't be using it. As to using the volume control, I don't worry about that as I use the ones on my mixer and on the laptop itself. I had a hum noise that was elliminated when I got the U-control. |

I've narrowed the sonic blast to the behringer sound card. Once it starts it's blast, then the power meter is showing in the danger zone and no way to control it. I stand by my statement of this piece of equipment. It's done nothing for me but but put a dent in my pocketbook. I don't mind buying equipment but there needs to be some kind of value for it. |
