Hi,
My name's conrad and I love to sing, although I am not very good.
I found this site by accident and liked it, so I thought I'd sign up.
I have entered a local karaoke contest and am looking for help, support, hints, and maybe some info on useful methods of making your own karaoke's from existing tracks using vocal removal programs.
The two songs I need the most help with are:
"Ten Thousand Fists" by Disturbed (my fav song)
"The Oogie Boogie Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas
I am new to this, be kind.
Thanks for all the help!
Cheers! XD
Conrad

First off...good luck at the contest! As for vocal reduction on original tracks...in my experience they dont work well. Very few songs will sound decent once you run them through the program. The reason is that most recordings are layered over and over...vocal reduction takes a small range of sound out of the track, while some of the vocals will be removed, not all will be BUT with the vocals that are removed..some of the music is also removed. It's a bit hard to explain. Some artists have their voices layered in the track so many times that you can't get enough of the vocals without totally ruining the music. As far as I know there is no way to totally remove vocals.
you could try mtu.com - they have a VoGone program that is pretty easy to use. I'm not sure they allow a demo though.
Some contests won't allow use of home burn cd's or cd's that have any original vocals in the track...
