I have some idea of how to hook things up, but I'm still hazy. I understand the audio hookups to the mixer, I'm just not 100% on the video part of the hookup. Here is what I want to be able to do: Hook both the laptop and a Karaoke player to a bar's house TV system AND at the same time, hook my laptop and Karaoke player to one LCD monitor for singers to read lyrics off of. I bought a switchbox that has VGA in and VGA out. The LCD display has VGA input. My Mixsonic DVD/CD player has VGA and composite video output. I want to hook the DVD/CD player and my laptop to an LCD monitor that has VGA. My laptop has both VGA out and S-video out. I haven't bought any cables yet. Can I do all of this with a RF modulator and a switchbox? If so, what cables do I need at this point? |

For video, most folks will go S-video to RCA. ((check out this thread)) http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=15560 Or you can go to a RF Modulator if you want. Most tvs and laptops have a RCA There are in fact more than a few ways to convert your signal. The switch I use is with RCA connectons... |

Maybe your not realising something, disregard this if so. 1. You can only have one video signal at a time, so at least your computer video, and your player video goes to the switch first. Now I hook up audio and video to the switch(red white yellow rca inputs). The switch outputs to up to four audio/video components. I use two of the outputs, and from these, two yellow rca go to two tvs, and there corresponding audio, red/white go to my mixer(two cahnnels). Now if you need to convert to coax(300ohm), you need a modulator, instead of the switch. You can use both. The modulator needs a power source, but the switch does not. You can also use a y-connection on any of the rca connections, but I would never split any one into more than two with a y-connector......many ways to skin a cat....also you must activate a second monitor on the computer, and with some software, you actually have to grab the lyrics box and pull it(with the cursor) into the second monitor, and expand it by pulling on the sides with the cursor.....I hope I don't confuse you, and personally, these things can be hard to explain and understand, without seeing it done.......good luck |
