Can anyone give me some insight and/or recommendation on insurance for my dj,kj business. I was talking to a local insurance person that would have to outsource to cover my business and indicated it would cost me about $270.00 a month! Is there specific companys you use or know of that specializes in insuring mobile Dj's/Kj's? Thanks

That sounds high. You should be able to carry an umbrella policy for a couple hundred a year. Equipment is different. Try:

[pre]The Recording Studio Insurance Program
Joe Montarello

work (888) 869-3535

500 New Karner Road
Albany NY 12212-5094[/pre]

Reports I get indicate $800.00 a year gets a million in liability and 60,000 in equipment ($250.00 deductible).

No other suggestions for Insurance?

Membership of WeDJ.com ($45 a year) lets you buy $1million KJ liability for yourself only, no employees from Mavon insurance for $175 + $20 professional association fee.

So that's $230 a year.

Adding on equipment coverage seems to be around $1 for every $70 IIRC.

Not sure on the costs if you have real employees, but if they are independent contractors renting your equipment then they need their own coverage.

Thanks so much for the information!

Classic, I just got off the phone with wedj and its just what you said thanks alot. FYI though they do cover employees as well as contractors using your equipment. They dont cover contractors working your gig and using their own equipment. Thanks again for all of your help. :D
