Post subject:  The crowds

Years ago I went to other shows in other towns and ran into folks that were at my gigs (non singers). Then I could drink and spend more time with and often they would request a song. I like to setup early and chat with the regs. They are the ones that recommend hosts to the owner. They play a very big part in determining the format. They are very karaoke wise and some have many years of karaoke experience. They are the ones calling the bar and asking who is doing karaoke tonight.

Criteria here for good shows often is the size of rotation. I dont judge my success by this but how many of these attendess I have. They will tell you what a good show is. It is one of my greatest satisfactions when tearing down they come up and shake your hand and compliment your show.

Listen to them and take care of them THEY are your bread and butter. Then a ratio of 10/1 attendess to singers is possible and success grows along with big tills. BTW they do not like hard core demanding drunk karaoke singers.

A good show consists with a good mngr, staff, crowd, host, system, and singers Not necessarily in that order but when one is lacking the others compensate. I do hope this sheds a different light on the subject.
