I have overhead lights - for the sake of this conversation let's just say I have 4 of them. They swirl, project and make nice little patterns.

Each time I setup I have to mess with the power cables (also DMX cables but let's ignore these for now). They terminate in standard UK 3 pin plugs.

What I want to do is this:

1) Cut the plugs off and connect a more "quick" connector - eg Neutric.

2) Run all 4 power connections to one plug socket.

So basically I plug in 1 3-pin UK plug, that is wired up to 4 female connectors (eg Neutrik). Into this I plug my 4 lights.

This would allow me to route the cabling more efficiently and vastly improve my setup/pulldown times.

Any idea if this is ok? If not, any suggestions?

Not Sure on this one ......like you I run lights when I go mobile..but i'm still using the "4 plugs into one extension" set up. Let me know how you get on..and how it will affect the PAT testing rules....

Ah crap yeah, forgot my invalidate all my PAT crap.

OK ignoring the PAT stuff, as I have spoken to an advisor who said "It would be subject to testing like everything else"...

Is this feasibly possible?

Calculate the load on the total system..

If it's below the rated capacity of the breaker on that socket, go with it.

On movie sets, electrical is connected with a snap in connector, rated high enough to connect several types of lighting. (One plug fits all)
