Post subject: | Flight Case |
Hi I'm getting a new mixer soon (Yamaha MG124CX) and need to upgrade a few other bits too (upgrading my mics, for example). I need a new flight case, and would preferably have one that houses all I need: Mixer Mic Receiver Drawer for laptop A little spare space for thinks like soundcard, etc. I am a mobile DJ so play all over the place. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks |

Can't help you with a laptop case since we use a Micro ATX desktop in our system, BUT we have figured out how to get everything in one box: http://www.dkusa.com/roadcase/ourcase.htm The only set up is literally the speakers and television. |

Nicely put together! What I'm thinking is something similar, albeit a lot smaller as all it needs to take is: Mixer Mic Receivers Rack-mounted tray Blank area As the mixer has on-board effects/compression, they are dealt with. Only in/out I would need for this rig is: Power Speakers USB |

We thought about a laptop, however the problem is the screen is attached to the rest and therefore your mixer has to be placed next to it creating a "side-by-side" configuration. UNLESS you put the laptop on the top of your case with the mixer on a slide-out drawer. |

GungHoUK That sorta looks suitable... I mean, mixer on top, then mic receivers, bit of space, then slide out drawer for laptop. How much, where? |

Seeing as my stand is built to accommodate it, I am thinking about this possible idea: 2 x small flight cases: (1) Mixer, Mic Receivers, Power distribution etc (2) Laptop, Hard drive, USB hub, Soundcard -- (1) would plug into the mains and route power to (2) via a short kettle cord. Audio would route from (2) to (1) via appropriate cables. They would sit side-by-side, and it would mean few cables to plug in, ready to rock in short time. |

This is the newer version of the case we use. We've had ours for about 10 years now, using in a mobile setting 6-7 days a week and still looks practically new. http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/ ... &c=78&s=78 |

Those Roto rigs look nice. I have worked out that the yamaha mixer is basically 10 long (front to back). I also need about 6-8u for the other gear. So I could mount the whole system in: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CD-Flight-Case-DJ ... 240%3A1318 |

Yeah that would do it too. A bit heavier than the SKB case (and twice the price that I'd ask for mine ) |

Gunghouk - PM me mate. I am looking at options, and considering your case. Be keen to see a few more angles. Rather do business with someone on here than a faceless ebay. |

Also, how do I mount a mixer such as Yamaha MG124CX into a rackmount? I mean, it's not wide enough? |

You really don't unless you custom-build a holder. I put mine in a padded shelf on the top of the rack. You then velcro the unit to there for transport. |

So I could rackmount a shelf, and then just stick it to the shelf? Sorry, don't totally think I've understood you correctly? |

Sorry, don't totally think I've understood you correctly? This unit: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/318842.html The mixer sits on top of it, with velcro securing it. |

They make rack ears for your mixer. Go to the yamaha site and order them. It will be much better than a shelf. |

At almost 40 lbs empty, it seems to me to be a bit on the heavy side for mobile use, but looks like a nice case. |
