When a KJ posts a question and or problem looking for advice

Singers ..will always have different answers and point of views --It just makes sense that they do and SHOULD ...after all they came in to SING as many songs as they can and have a great time. They want ,expect and deserve a personable host good song selection and a good sound system. BUT YOU SINGERS..STOP ALREADY TRYING TO THINK LIKE A KJ ....... it just causes arguments :D :)

A KJ has some of the same goals as the singers ..but really needs to look at the BIG PICTURE ( which usually is a sum of the little things each singer is looking for)
But not EXACTLY ...... It's a BUSINESS to us KJ's and not some hobby or fun time away from home ... We all would like to have only the best microphones that you individually prefer along with your favorite versions of each song and a rotation system that never falters..but it's not the case ..SO singers if a KJ starts a topic it would be best if you try and THINK like a KJ when you answer it ...and US kj's should try and do the same

You mean you don't?

You forgot the part about having all the hit songs we want to sing BEFORE they're actually released and not letting anyone else sing them 'cause you bought them just for me....

Oh yeah, and the economy sux right now... could you take a cut in pay and play overtime for free?

and I wanna sing just ONE MORE song 'cause I can rock the house and I'm better than the last guy and I have to leave soon and everyone wants to hear me anyway.... (please)

If the topic is posted in Open forums, singers should voice opinions. Doesn't KJs have their own forum that is ONLY for KJs?

And there's some KJs out there just having fun and do great business in return, and some KJs treat it like it's a job and it could be boring to the customers. And let the retorts be exchanged, this is a discussion forum. But don't get too involved in the argument when the other poster may not return until a week later.

No, people telling other people what to do causes arguments. So stop it. 8-)

Are you saying that all KJs want to cheap out on microphones? And that they all hold your opinion? And look at it the same way? I can tell you right now that is not the case.

I totally disagree. Each one participating means each learns some of what the other is thinking.

Jam

You are, of course, correct. But there are those who don't get or what to get what you suggested.

It's like this: A KJ puts in a request to learn what type of filler or dance music, or whatever, other KJ's are finding success with.

Then, some nincompoop comes along and insists that you not use any such music. Well, you weren't asking for opinions about whether you should or shouldn't be using said music... you asked for recommendations on what "said" music to consider.

I think that is what you were saying, Jam?

Or... how about this. Some KJ asks about wireless mics in the 50-$100 range. He probably would enjoy feedback as to the pros and cons regarding specific brands and models that some have had experience with.

Well, somebody is going to tell the OP that they're wasting their time with such mics; they'll fall apart. Others will insist they will not come to your show if you use such mics. Some will tell you that you can't get anything good for that money, so don't bother.

How many posters have ever asked: "what do you intend to use the mic for"
Answer: "Oh, I just want to keep it in my hand for making announcements during the evening. I can't deal with a cord and I might even go into the audience with it when someone want to sing happy birthday to someone....or"

I think that is what you were saying, Jam?

HERE WE GO AGAIN.

Eric agrees with Jamkaraoke so anyone who disagrees with them should just shut the hell up because they don't want anyone to express a differing opinion. Erica's solution is to call people nincom poops. How adult of him.

Sorry about the  typo

Would it to some extend solve some of these problem if the Mod move ALL KJ related post to the KJ forum? Non KJ do not have access to the KJ forum, and if if they do find their way there such post can be remove and the user blocked from that forum.

Of course, immediately following your thread suggesting we strive for a modicum of sanity, here comes that stallion with a full head of steam. Can't read or just has poor comprehension abilities. Don't know which?

Definitely - wants to be noticed, taken seriously, appreciated, acknowledged as superior.

But, in the end, he will change this thread completely, if so allowed. So, Jam and Jian, it's useless to start a thread on any subject when someone like Big Dog is around. Though, I don't remember Big Dog actually hi-jacking too many?

Me? I'm gone from the boards for awhile. Can't continence much more of valuable time being interrupted for none productive activities!

Oh, yes, there are posters who are non-productive. We each can be guilty of that on occasion --- but not every occasion!

Eric calls people names in his posts but feels that I should be censored because he thinks that I only post my opinions so I can get some attention, as if I don't really believe the opinions that I post. All of his posts reak of censorship for anyone who doesn't agree with his opinions. He seems to think that he can post as often as possible in any given thread but I should be limited to one post per thread. It really seems to bother him that I always have a response to his opinions but he would like me to keep them a secret. Eric seems to believe that ALL of my opinions are useless, no matter what they happen to be.....unless I might happen to agree with him. Then my opinions are great. Eric seems to think that he can go through life without anyone EVER disagreeing with him because HE is always right.

What's kind of ironic in this situation is that Eric is going to avoid the boards for a while because I have become his "filler music" that he can't take. My opinions are bothering him the same way that his or any other KJ's filler music would bother me. He is doing EXACTLY what he thinks that I should NOT do or even talk about doing. He thinks that my posts are worthless and I think that filler music is worthless but his opinion of me is supposed to be valid and my opinion of filler music is invalid regardless of how many people agree with me. I just love it. He is allowed to boycott a forum......and make a BIG announcement about it but I'm not supposed to talk about boycotting a certain kind of karaoke show because he runs one just like it.  :?

Settle down sparky .... I didn't say SINGERS shouldn't voice there opinions, I want to say SINGERS need think like a KJ when answering some of the questions - This would cut down on some of the MUD SLINGING comments of late. A GOOD KJ willl always want to hear what singers are thinking ..thats' how we improve our shows.
But lately many singers can't seem to see things from a BUSINESS side of the karaoke world .... And yes your are probably correct that KJ questions and discussions should be in the KJ forum.

As usual you just don't get it Bruce. LOOK AROUND ---you have been the FOCUS of many of the arguments and mudslinging of late. JUST LOOK you will find it to be true. When a topic is started that asks for your opinion BY ALL MEANS you should give it .... But when someone asks a questions or requests advice you should really refrain from giving any if you don't know anything about the question.
We all know you'll walk out if filler music is played or you get skipped in rotation or the KJ doesn't have $500 wireless mics yadda yadda yadda ..WE GET ALL THAT !
wheeew. Now you're covered

I would just ask all you trouble makers to READ the first post again.
There is nothing in there that SUGGESTS the rant from a few of you.

It was actually meant as a way NOT to have what has happened HERE !!!!

It just proves that some of you just can't wait to argue or post insulting comments

I have several I go to regularly, and they welcome me with open arms. I don't say any of those things even if I think them, of course. My favorite show has *several* deficiencies. Their library is lousy, their mics are junk, and they have no idea how to adjust sound. But I enjoy it anyway. Other shows, not so much and I go back a couple of times then not.

If you say so. I think you just are intolerant of others point of view, myself. Your way or the highway, eh?

Threads like this belong in the lounge forum. In the tech and karaoke forum folks (self included) should stick to the topic and give adult responses. Personal onions are welcome but insults towards others opinions are not tolerated and stated in forum policies. Those posts should be deleted.

In the lounge trolls and radicals can rant all day long and as time has proven they gradually get tired and go on to other things and disappear.

HUH???? And this within the same post?

Methinks the more probable causes of arguments are the misunderstandings associated with poorly thought out and worded postings!

Ahhh, but then that's just my point of view!
