Post subject:  Having issues with M Audio 192: anyone use one?

I installed an M Audio 192 into my rig and the card seems to be installed properly and up and running internally. All the computer applications detect it just fine and I can select it and use it as the audio output device.

There is the analog output cluster of 1/4" and the S/PDIF for connections. I am trying to use the 1/4" analog main out and it's run to my mixer. I simply get no input at all for my mixer when I use that device. The cables run a monitor just fine so I'm assuming the hardware connection is just fine.

I just don't think I have the card settings setup correctly. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? Any advice on it?

Have you been to the M-Audio Delta sound manager and selected the default output connection? My 2496 has an output source selector with several options.

Yes, I have played with that. I tried all the options with no luck. I have the machine in the rack at the venue and was working yesterday to get everything up and running. I finally gave up and left in frustration. Do you use the analog out to the mixer?

This was certainly the most difficult install I have ever done. Not to get the card recognized or working, just to get output. Their tech support only works weekdays so I'll call them on Tuesday eve when I break the system out to setup for the show.

Not sure I use the main L/R 1/4" outputs with TRS connections to my mixer which also has TRS inputs. May try a TRS 1/4" plug to a XLR plug for the mixer side. I have never had that problem. Have you defaulted the computer to this card? You may need to possibly go through the BIOS & disable the onboard sound card.

Didn't use the BIOS to disable the onboard, but I did do it through device mangler, uh, manager. I never thought about TRS to XLR for the board. I just use TRS from the card to TRS on the mixer. I know the cables are good, they're easy enough to test.

One thought is the interface plug is goofed up somehow. Dunno any way to test that.

But it's possible the 1/4" jack on the board is not balanced (didn't mention model) & that could be a possible culprit.

Ding! Didn't think of that. Silly of me to not ponder.

Thanks!
