I would like to get a Pro grade disc player for my setup to play customer's discs.

I've looked at ebay and the old Pioneer and JVC machines go for a lot of money considering they are used, 10 years old and could die at any time.

I used someone else's CAVS 105 machine and didn't like it at all.

I want something rugged and reliable that can go from place to place and that loads fast. It needs to have key change built in too. It will be plugged into my mixer.

Do you need a RACK mounted unit ? ? I Just saw a single tray TABLE TOP unit (I'M CRINGING AS I SAY IT) ....VOCOPRO. SEEMS a little pricey but otherwise fits your needs.

for a single tray, I'd get the jvc or rsq 222 machines. They were just about indestructable! Would put up with a lot of punishments.

And yes, the JVC triple will set you back a few bucks! No question about it. But they were the BEST out there (although some feel the Pioneer twin tray - V10 ) was as good. I liked it, but felt the JVC was a better machine!

I would like to point out that as good as the JVC triple player was, its day has passed. For example, I can put 100 karaoke songs on a personal disc in MP3 format, and newer disc player will play that. the JVC, of course, won't.

All you really need is a single, rack mount player and an A/B switch. A decent one will set you back about $150 - $199.

Make sure you get one that has a volume adjust feature built in, otherwise you'll have to drastically adjust your music mix when you go from Player to computer.

Its feature packed, and a great bargin. When I was using discs this thing got me through many gigs. It doesn't see too much use anymore, but its still in my rack so I can play singer's discs.

Its also a DVD player, which was cool when I put some karaoke vids of singers id done on the big screen at my show. Very cool. :D You may never use it, but its nice have the ability.

Yes, I have a switch to go from using the laptop to using the Karaoke disc player. I just got it. I have a Mixsonic player, I just want something more pro grade. I want to get singers up and singing as fast as I can with the least amount of hassle. I want it to look effortless to the singer. I've had some impatient people and I want everything to go smooth as silk. The Acesonic looks very good, it looks Pro grade. I found a V2Go on ebay for $99 that looks to be a quality, Pro grade machine too.

there was a thread on here recently about the V2Go... although I've not used it personally, I heard it wasn't that good!

Nothing load faster than the JVC single tray. Just about 1 second, less than 2 to be ready for the play button or selection.

IMHO

Make sure that IF what you buy has a remote... that you can change the key directly on the deck. There are models that only provide for key changes on the remote.

Problem for me, especially if the battery(ies) die in the middle of your show!

I think only on ebay and they're like 10 years old, plus they go for #150, $200, $300. I't's a pig and a poke. A ten year old machine could last a week, a month, a year or who knows? Once I'm more established and have a better and bigger song selection it won't be that important to play customer discs and eventually I won't carry a player anymore.

but they are VERY serviceable. Any place that works on electrical things like players, amps etc, can work on these!

There has to be drives available that are not 10 years old. I bought mine brand new 4 years ago from guitar center. Model XL-SV22. On this player you can change key from the player itself, but as stated above, only an unprepared person is going to do a show without replacement bateries for every device they have that requires them.

I've got a 20,000 song library and I will still get requests for stuff I don't have, and singers still want me to play THEIR discs.

I have 18,000 songs, and still get request for songs I don't have. If a KJ won't play my disc, I walk out. I know many singers who feel the same way.

Good POST Stogie.

besides the MIXONIC suggestion, i'm looking for a BETTER answer as well.

JVC players (and RSQ clones) were THE BEST but are near impossible to find nu-sed.

CAVS players have incredibly S-L-O-W load times. I use a 203g for vids/cdg but hate the wait.

VOCOPRO cdg players- single or dual- seem to have pixel problems after just a couple months of use and do cost more than others. Never Again will i try voco-junk.

And V2GO- hmm....gotta check that out. Buttons on the unit and key changes are a must for me.

We'll see whom else can chime in with any other good suggestions. J.R.

It's interesting how people have different experiences with different manufactures. Seems like most on this board love JVC and hate anything by VocoPro, while my experience has been just the opposite. Everything I've owned by VocoPro has worked like a charm but I've seen nothing but problems with JVC machines. Seems that so many of their machines have problems with CDR's, they start fine but don't refresh properly and you end up with garbage on the screen. Now that everything Chartbuster issues is a CDR this presents a real problem, if you try to keep up to date with their new stuff. The three tray machines seem to handle them better than the single tray decks. Guess it's the karaoke version of Ford vs Chevy. :D

I have one of the V2Go 100's and it's not a bad machine. They were having some trouble with their drives for awhile but seem to have gotten that resolved. You don't have to use the remote for normal functions as it can be controled from the front panel. The only complaint I have is that it's slow. It just takes forever to figure out if it's a CD, CD+G, VCD or DVD, but this seems to be standard in all the multi-format machines I've seen, just the nature of the beast.

I still have one of the old Pioneer twin tray decks that I use in my home system and it still works great. I'm dreading the day it gives up the ghost.

I use a RSQ csu 222 and I am pleased with it but it can take up to 5 secends to get the song loaded and playing dosen't sound long unless you have a singer on stage waiting then it's LONG
