Can anyone tell me if you have experience with Nady SP-5 mics. I have been using Shure PG58 as my main mics for years and still going strong but I am looking for some xtra inexpensive mics. I've read great reviews on these comparing them to the SM58 and I can get 3 for the price of 1. Am also looking for a decent powered floor monitor that will not cost an arm and a leg. Thanks.

Yeah, I have experience with them. I got them originally as the mics I was going to use at home because they were inexpensive; 4 for $35 on special when you spent XXX amount of money. I found them a bit too bright and tinny with ok/poor low end sensitivity. I think they're better for some singers than others.

I settled on the Behringer XM8500 mics for home and backup. I'm a quite a bit more pleased with them across the entire spectrum. Some folks might like the Nady because they're bright and hot out of the box but you can get the same response from any mic if you mix it right.

Personally the Behringers at $20 each are better than the Nady's at $10 each. However your mileage may vary :)

Second this opinion.

The Nady has a huge amount of handling noise. The Behringer XM8500 is going to have a similar amount of handling noise as your PG58, in other words more than an SM58 or equivalent. Personally, I think the XM8500 beats the PG58 as far as performance, feel, and sound.

Ok, you guys have me intrigued about this XM8500. It's hard to believe a $20 mic can sound that good. I find mics in this price range usually prone to feedback; any feedback issues? I'm tempted to get one to add to my collection just to see if it's as good as you guys say it is. But if it's prone to feedback, it'll be yet another contribution to the Yuri landfill. I like tweaking for best sound, but hate EQ feedback fighting.

We have no trouble with it. We *have* had trouble with cheap wireless mics.

Again, I don't think it is as good as an SM58. But it beats the PG58 in my opinion.
