Looking to sell some "equipment" and or discs. I've used EBAY in the past and locally even Craigslist. But I've been reading HORROR stories of people shipping stuff OUT OF THE COUNTRY after receiving a payment thru paypal or a money order in the mail only to have it REVERSED or CREDITED after the shipment already left ? WHAT IS THE SAFEST WAY TO TRANSACT SALES OVER THE INTERNET ? |

Simple don't ship out of country. Look at feedback ratings & past sales. Or sell locallay & ask for cash & local pickup only. I have never had a problem selling or buying on ebay, just be careful to whom you sell to. I won't sell to a new buyer nor one that had negative feedback that couldn't be explained. Anything less than 90% positive was a risk IMO. |

totally agree! I made every one of my sales for US ONLY. Never had a problem with that. I've bought stuff from out of the country, but they were single items, low dollar, so if I GOT screwed, it wasn't that bad! You are the seller... you control the sale. |

Paypal is the only way I use Ebay, Jam! I've even had to use them for a dispute. Love 'em! |

I buy on eBay and I get very frustrated when sellers won't sell to me because I'm in Canada. I have excellent feedback but still no go. I think it happens a lot less than what the scaremongers would have you believe. The horror stories can get blown out of proportion and in the end, you may end up losing sales of perhaps getting a much lower price if you restrict too much. How about an approved bidders only auction? That way, anyone can still buy, but you get to pre-approve them and set your mind at ease BEFORE they bid. Even Americans can pull the chargeback scheme, you know. |

of of the biggest problems with purchasing or selling to another country, and no matter how you look at it, Canada IS another country... is customs. Many times it takes a normal shipping issue and doubles it. Customers complain because it takes longer, sellers complain that they have more complaints due to the restrictions, and many times you have increased shipping costs.... I'd be better off driving it across the border myself as opposed to shipping it! |

I've tried to sell some items on CRAIGSLIST and always get emails from "interested" parties that state somethine like ... Yes I am interested in your item for my sister who is out of the country - can you send it to MAUMBI and I will pay you thru PAYPAL or send you a money order. |

Craigslist does have its share of scammers. We have always had very good luck with CL but we are in a huge metropolitan area. Just have to put on your ad that you won't ship but locally, and prefer meeting and exchanging money, not money orders or whatever. If a person wants what you're selling, they'll usually make the extra effort. Nice to potentially get more bucks on E-bay but shipping can be an issue. Speaking of scammers - a couple in our area actually put an ad in the local paper for some sort of heavy machinery - got a buyer on the hook, and then went and STOLE THE MACHINE to sell it to him. -- druggies -- |
