I've been doing small parties for kids at houses so sound did not need to be turned up. I upgraded my system so i could play at halls and we would get this karaoke gig. I got a Peavey 8600, rsq pm600 mics, peavey 12 speakers, and lcd screen for singer. So last night we had a gig at the bar. We started with a few in the crowd, most people we knew, and i needed to put the sound higher. Each time i did that, feedback would go crazy. So finally after a few songs my fiancee's uncle friends there came up to me, one does karaoke, assisted me. They said to turn your speakers outward in different directions, the speakers should be in front of singer, and to add some echo. So i did what i could, added echo, which allowed me to higher the volume. I can't seem to get loud. Everytime i turn the Gain and DB's higher i get feedback. i kinda solved the problem but my volume for the music is not as high as i want it. Also, i have the cav 205 player and has 2 inputs for mics as well as the mixer. I end up putting the mics in the player bc i can't get the volume up when i play it through the mixer/amp. I use the red/white composite cords and plug it in the player and mixer... Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help. |

Are your speakers above the head of the singer? |

yes they are high. Some guys told me my speakers shouldnt be behind the singer. They should be spread apart further. I moslty think it's my settings. Still trying to play with it and see what works. But when the crowd wants it louder, i just go oh crap. As i turn it up the feedback goes. |

Feedback is due to wrong speaker placement. Get the speaker in front of the singer. If they can't hear them self singing; get a small stage monitor. Don't use the mic in put of your player; you have a mixer with better mic pre-amp, use those. |

First, what is the amp wattage per channel, and what is the RMS wattage per speaker? Do you have enough output from the amp to drive the speakers properly? For the vocals: RSQ mics produce a very muffled output- I purposely use them for screamers. They are perhaps the lowest volume/clarity output around. I would suggest a change. |

You should not be turning the GAIN up on the mics up as the overall volume increases, you should be cutting it. You have options for volume increase: 1) main volume 2) music level 3) mic level As you increase the mic level the gain should be lowered. Try using the channel EQ to lower the high frequency of the mic, and increase your mids. Are you plugged into the low impedance or high impedance plug on the amp? The GAIN feature is used mainly to help those low volume singers. Do you have a -10db cut button on the mic channel? Use this and increase the level to balance the mic with the music. More echo will also give you feedback as you increase your volume. |
